Getting a handle on the 6x47 and a 110

Starting to come together for me with the 110 A tip in the 6x47 repeating .1 groups with H4350 and the A tip @ 3045 and ES. is 5-6 area...... Starting to warm up to it..... jim
More details please. Barrel length, twist, primer, 39.? Grain with all the caveats

A 28" 7 twist barrel and 39 gr. is a good spot to be in. GM primer but it shot good the groups in a row but it like you Hear about them is fact you need more consistency. This barrel was a rechamber from a BR Imp. so I know it shot really good like .020's to .1 with the 110 both SMK and A tips. I will try R-16 to see if it is better than H4350 today and see if the conditions are better. Yesterday it was so windy it blew my level off the bench... lol..... jim

I think I will hang up this project up for now, it is rather disappointing to see it will not agg. what shot three .1 groups in a row would not shoot the next day. I am having issues with neck tension, I hate no turn necks. It makes life harder don't want to settle for .3 groups..... I do know the gun will shoot small, the barrel shot small with the 110's as a Br Imp. Back to square one and start over..... jim

I sure don't know how to do pics. My most consistent shooters are the the PPC first then the BR Imp..... jim
Hope this isn't taking the thread too far off, but do you find the BR Imp more consistent than a straight 6BR? Thanks

Beats me but I would say it is equal to it, with 80 gr. it shoots under a .1 and at 3000 with a 105 bullet it will shoot around a .1.... jim

How many rounds on that brass? How much clearance will you have if you turn necks a couple of thou?

My 6x47 is a "no turn" neck too. I did turn them down enough
to clean them up. Using Peterson brass, it's a little thicker, so
turning them down a little didn't seem to hurt.

less than 5 firings and annealed every time, .003 clearance .272 neck and .269 loaded round ..... jim
I have a hard time accepting the dimensions of new brass. In my opinion it all needs to be turned to an acceptable tolerance for great groups and low extreme spreads. How do you address the carbon in the necks after 5 firings? This is a factor that certainly limits the life of my brass and really puts a kink in consistent neck tension for my rifles.

I turn bras to a .0001, I know what it is. I have the seating force around 20lb. and I'm at the velocity where the BR.Imp shoots in a .1 and it spits a shot on almost every group. You get a teezer group every once in awhile but most are .3 groups..... jim

Oh sorry misunderstood post. I thought you were not turning necks.

I am curious as to your thoughts on carbon in the necks affeting neck tension after 5 firings. I often wonder about neck to bullet friction as opposed to neck tension. In my mind two seperate items but not seperated in the numbers we get usung a force guage.I often think because all my chambers feature a .262 neck it helps in consistent tension as opposed to thicker neck walls, but not sure that is fact.
