Both natural gas and LPG have no odor. In 1937 in New London Tx, the school was being heated with Nat gas. It started leaking and nobody knew it. Killed everybody in the school when it exploded. Mercaptan became required as an odorizer after that.
About 1 oz of the stuff is all it takes to make people down wind nervous for miles, when it escapes. Don't ask me how I know.
