Game shooting with 155 Nosler?

Has anybody used the .308 155 gr. Nosler custom comp. bullet to shoot deer with? It shoots great in my rifles and I am going to try it on deer this fall but would like to know your experience with it.

I don't have personal experience, but would recommend that you use an expanding bullet, not a match bullet, to eliminate the potential that your 155's don't expand and just poke a hole thru the animal allowing it to run off a fair distance and perhaps be lost. Lots of good hunting bullets available on the market, and you might be surprised how well a Sierra gameking shoots with the same load as the MK in your rifle. My $0.02

Come on fellows I know somebody has to have tried Nosler 155 Custom Comp bullets on deer.

As for using "game bullets", yes I know all about bullet constriction etc. I have kill well over 200 deer with about everything from a bow to a 45-70 with everything from cast bullets through jacketed match bullets. I just have never tried the Nosler 155 gr. Custom Comp 30 cal bullet.

I would agree with dibbs, if the bullets are the same they wouldn't make match bullets and hunting bullets. Think of the extra money a corp like Nosler spends on R and D to create one type of bullet. I have shot the Nosler AccuBonds with excellent results. They are very accurate and perform great on game.

2506 I know what you mean, I got excellent accuracy results with 155 Cust Comp in my 300 Win Mag last year. I wish I could tell how good they slay the dragon or drop a deer, or even pulverize a whistle pig, but alas I never saw any legal game/varmints when I was working with them. They would group at under .600 in my sporter Rem M700 with little tuning on my part.

i know a guy who makes a 6mm-105gr bullet with j-4 jackets. they harvest deer,200lbs) and have no problems out ot 500 yards. I really don't see why a nosler155 would not work. treeman

Thank you for the reply fellows. I may just have to try them out myself on a doe or two. Where I hunt in NC they have unlimited doe permits. Right now I have found a load for my 30X47 with the 125 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip that is dead nuts accurate like the 155's are. I know what this bullet will do to a deer from my 308 I will see what it will do moving about 150 fps slower. Oh! that 125 Nosler Ballistic Tip is a drop them in their tracks bullet on 100 to 200 pound deer from my 308 at 2950 fps.
