Bradley Walker

I'm just posting this as an FYI.

"1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.

10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.

11. Nominate an ATF director.

12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.

18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.

19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.

20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.

21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.

22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.

23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health."

That's it for now...

Everyone can chill... Congress wants no part of it from what I can tell...

It's time for protest. It is time to be seen and heard. I don't want to talk and listen to it anymore. It is time to gather 100,s of thousands and gather at these places. I am in and want to know where the first 1 is going to be held. All my life i have been 1 of action and not talking about it. It works real well. You can't keep sitting on your butt watching this crap on the news, on the radio and in the papers. Sitting around complaining about it and not protesting is the first sign of defete.

23 EO's in one day, his average of one EO every 10 days since Jan. 21 2009 just went up. Plus not to mention whats the cost of all this nonsense? Half a bil maybe? Basically we are financing our own demise.

I have decided I will not comply with any gun restrictions not already in effect. I would love to see an organized event protesting unconstitutional gun restrictions that are sure to come our way.

Hmmmm im pretty sure i missed something in all this hooplaaaa. Hows about a simple law stating if u use a firearm in a violent crime u will b sentenced to death. Oh wait this would punish the criminals we wouldnt want to take their right to live off us law abiding citizens for years.

The problem with that is, as shown in Florida you can defend yourself with a gun, be set free, then have Al Sharpton come down and say your guilty of a violent crime, then get arrested because the politicians want to look good because they are afraid of being viewed as racist.

The substance of the executive orders is non-existent and pointless. They are lists of things to do things. Appoint a director of the ATF??? He does not need an executive order to appoint a director to that agency.

I was expecting something much worse and unconstitutional. I have been reading comments on many sites on the internet. There was a lot of talk of civil war, revolution and civil disobedience. In my opinion, he got the message and withheld the executive orders that he intended to issue, and as a means of saving face, he drafted the executive orders that we are hearing about.

If you think about it, those executive orders are almost exactly what the NRA was proposing. So other than the fact that they will surely cost taxpayers more money, I see nothing wrong with tougher background checks by sharing information and scutinizing mental health issues because I have nothing to worry about as a law abiding citizen who has already had an extensive background check for my concealed weapons carry permit.

Don't get me wrong, I'm the farthest thing from an Obama fan, but I agree with most of those orders because they will HELP (not prevent) keep weapons out of the hands of the criminally insane. And if the orders help save innocent lives but do not affect me and my ability to purchase weapons, I am for it.

As far as his proposals to ban military style weapons and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, he can go to hell because innocent people will get hurt if they try to take them from me ;)

I agree. I truly believe it is all the uproar that caused this to turn into nothing. They floated this idea of executive orders a week or two in advance to test the waters. If people didn't seem to care It would have been bad.

I am just glad the full extent us just a bunch of letters and memorandums. Of course I for one would have no intention of participating in any kind of mental assistance if I know there is a risk of loosing my firearms and I am reasonably sure that most people think the same so in essence he is hurting the mental health program he is trying to make.
