Fullbore Bullet Analysis

Bryan Litz Ballistics

Site $$ Sponsor
I've posted a new article to my website titled: 2009 Fullbore Bullet Update.
http://www.appliedballisticsllc.com/index_files/FULLBOREBulletUpdate.pdf

This article provides analysis of 8 different 30 cal 155 grain bullets that are commonly (and uncommonly) used in Fullbore competition.
The article starts by providing the tested BC's for each bullet, then goes on to analyze the effect of the different BC's on wind deflection and score for 1000 yard (US) prone and F-class targets.

Analysis is also provided on MV and performance from service rifles, and stability requirements for this current crop of FULLBORE bullets.

Enjoy,
-Bryan

PS, Please let me know (bryan.litz@appliedballisticsLLC.com) if you notice anything 'fishy' about the .pdf. Sometimes the font goes haywire, don't know if it's a browser problem, embedded fonts, etc. Thanks.

Bryan, great read and great information.

Any thoughts on doing this with 6mm bullets as that is what I shoot in a 6mmBR?

Thanks,
George

Thanks, Brian - an excellent article, as always! I've printed a copy for my reference "library".

My Palma project this year is comparing different bullets (types and weight). It becomes a bit of a chore testing for pressure and MV, then shooting the matches, but it's been interesting. Apart from the various 155's, I'm working with the Berger 175, Berger 190 VLD, Sierra 190, Lapua 185 D46 and possibly another one if initial tests go well.

I would be EXTREMELY interested in a similar comparison among the various 6.5 mm bullets. Hate to say it but I loves me a 6.5 X 284....
