Fudd Windage Top Questions

I've come across a gentleman who is selling his older aluminum Bald Eagle rest with a Fudd Windage Top. From what I've read, the Fudd's are adjustable to any forend width, but I'm not certain of that.

From the pictures I've seen, it appears to use a pad of some sort on the bottom and both sides. Are those easy to replace? I ask in case these are worn and need to be replaced.

Are there any known issues that would warrant staying away from buying it?

Also, I believe the top will interchange with other rests in case I don't like the rest he has. Is this correct?

Is $150 shipped a fair price, considering the rest and top are in good condition?

Thanks for the help!

You can replace the "bags" on that style top. You'll just need some hollow tape/fabric tubing with a very fine weave, sand, and some hot glue. I have a Fudd style and have had to replace the original bags on it due to abrasion. Not hard to do and you'll know when it's time. As far as what rest the top you are looking at will fit, I can't help there.

If you want adjustability in your top, I can't think of a reason not to buy it. They are robust, hold their adjustment, and you can use that one top for many different styles of stocks. A simpler non adjustable top may track better, but don't have any complaints.

My top is made by Randolph, but my shooting partner had a Fudd brand top for his Randolph. I can use other Randolph tops on my rest, but prefer the Fudd style. Personal preference on my part.
