Ftr practice loads

Wanting to develop a practice load to improve my ability to read wind under 400 meters for an FTR match this spring. The components I have available for this are, 308 Win brass, Remmy 9 1/2 primers, RL 15 , Hornady 150 gr fmj . The load data varies from 46 to 49 grains depending on the data publisher. Has anyone assembled these components? What I want is your accuracy load and when did the loads become hot. Is RL 15 an erratic burning powder particularly when the loads approach being a hot load?

First you shouldn't be looking for some one else's load, you should just look for your own. I say this for it's your rifle and your rifle will shoot a load made for it. One can give you an idea to what it may or may not like, but that's it and what it turns out to be. I would use what you have and work up till signs of pressure. For what its worth what ever you use for practice use for the match. I have found it hard to use a load for one thing and then another load for another. Keep it simple and you should be fine.

Look into Erik's load development at 100 yards, Erik has a lot of good info to read in his post.

Use this as an oppurtunity to practice your load developing as well! If you can tune this load to be as accurate as possible, then you can use this to develop great match ammo!

I do use a lot of RL15 in my practice rifle.

Thanks. I always develops all my loads and rely on nobody's data. I understand the safety aspect of reloading as I have reloaded for over 40 years. I appreciate the good advice to develop my own loads. What getting data from others does for me is give me an idea where the best load most likely will occur. Specific bullets seem to have an affinity for specific pressures. If I can find the approximate pressure that bullet likes I can focus my load development at that particular pressure level after working up the load guaranteeing safe pressures. I will do as you said and check out Eric's load development at 100 yds.
