FTR Bipod

Duplin. I don't have the issues others are stating about them. The feet are rough - not sure if it actually makes a difference. I didn't try to find out just fitted with stock tape (very slippery now). That tape has lasted a couple of seasons. I have changed it for this season just because.
I have multiple ET screens shots showing .4moa vertical at 1000 so no complaints from me.
One thing I love over the joy pod, just spin the wheel and you are on target. I have wind coached joy pod shooters and if they run out of travel it is a PITA to adjust the legs to get it all centered again.
Also with the joypod the allen key that comes with the kit doesn't fit the screws that bolt the attachment onto the bipod rail all that well. In a rush to fit the attachment on I stuffed one of the allen key heads as it is a shallow fit. I'm sure its possible to get a replacement but very annoying.

Over time the adjustment

I don't see any of that with the Duplin, then again I also don't use my bipod to get my final elevations. I need the pod to get me into the range of the 9 ring and I move my rifle in the bag for that. I do that even with the JoyPod. If I used them differently I might have experienced it.

I agree, I don’t have an issue with my Duplin bipod. My results in Canada shows this. Nothing wrong with a Phoenix either, if you can make weight.

If you are happy with it shoot it till it gets wobbly. Eventually the top of the adjustable Sinclairs gets very wobbly and worn out. After that look for your next one. I shot one for a couple of yrs.

The Duplin and the Phoenix are super easy to get set up, and you never run out of travel down the way you do on your Sinclair as the bag starts to settle.

Thanks.
I gave up on the adjustment thing and just cranked it against the stop long ago.
Seems rigid that way. I can't reasonably reach it in position anyway.
I use the legs to get onto the black and nudge it on the bag for the fine adjust.

The biggest shortcoming of the Sinclair becomes evident when you attend a match were you shoot from multiple distances. Readjusting the height requires you to repeatedly adjust the height and look through the scope until you get it close. With the Phoenix bipod, adjustments are done while looking through the scope.

I'm not following this and I'm afraid i might want to.

I've never noticed hop.
Maybe because the most recoil my sinclair has seen is 77gr 223 in a 12+ pound gun??

I had a Sinclair gen 2 when I was shooting a .223 in a 12 pounder. It worked just fine, no hop or twist. I shot 80grainers. You have a gen 3 with the elevation adjustment. I have that one also, but I only ever used it with a .308. As I said earlier I found that it twisted more than the gen 2. But I doubt it twists at all with your setup. If it works for you, keep it, knowing that at some point you can always upgrade if you feel the bipod is an issue.

You should also consider going to an 80 gr bullet right away, if you're shooting F-class.

I've been unable to work up any enthusiasm for getting into handloading.
Ammo upgrade will probably be a thread of it's own sometime this winter :)

Would 80s be appreciably better than 77 for my 200yd local matches?

Thanks

I've never shot an F-class match under 300 yards, so I can't help you there. When I was shooting a .223 in F-TR, I started off with various bullet weights for the different distances. I soon discovered that was madness. I also discovered that the 69gr SMK was more precise than the 77gr SMK at 300yards and the 75 A-max was better than either. At 1000 yards I was using the 80gr JLK and finally started using that bullet at all distances. I made High Master at mid-range with that combo back in 2011 but could never get beyond Sharpshooter at 1000. That's when I switched to .308.

If you're happy with your results at 200 yards, I would leave well enough alone.

I did a lot of research before I purchased the Duplin Rorer. Was lucky to purchase from a member here. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot a match yet but really like the quality and stability. My first time at the range with it was also to break in my new Benchmark barrel. I am very happy with my purchase.
These use the Anschutz rail system. I had to purchase a blank rail from Champion Shooter Supply and make the rail for my XLR Evolution chassis's hand guard. Easily done with basic tools. I plan to also shoot Tactical Sniper down the road and so purchased an adapter that provide the swivel lug for mounting my Harris.
