FTR barrel hop to the left

I’ve shot FTR a while but have changed stock
The new stock has the same LOP etc as my old stock but I have an unexplained barrel hop to the target to the left
I can alter my body position to compensate but I don’t want to upset and change my technique which is solid
Anyone any ideas why

Is it a wood stock or a molded fiberglass stock? Does it have a cheek piece on it different than the old one?

Could it be the new stock is narrower than your old rear bag?

Did the old stock have the top of the butt pad more in line with the barrel?

Does the new stock have an adjustable butt pad that you can raise and tilt?

Is the length of pull the same? is your scope in the same position? If not, either could cause the rifle to recoil differently because your position behind the rifle may be different asa result. If you are reaching to get a good sight picture then you might be putting more pressure against the left side of the stock (rather than squarely behind it) and cause the rifle to move left under recoil. Same is true if the length of pull is longer than your previous stock then you might be putting different shoulder pressure against the butt..

Lastly, have you checked the balance (front to back) of your previous stock vs the new stock. More weight on the muzzle or butt can cause different recoil.

If all these are the same, then you may just need to change your position and drive the rifle differently to get the repeatability you had with your previous stock. At the end of the day, its whats on target that counts.

^^^^ Virtually everything he said . I have a tendency to get a little lazy when shooting practice , and my body gets a little to much cant to the Left , instead of being straight behind the rifle . This makes my rifle slide to the left , usually about two targets on every shot . Since I have a very smooth front Board , the rifle moves easily , sideways , but I don't have to deal with the , Is it within the "Rules" whine , over the carpet issue , either . I just focus on getting a better position on the gun .

FNG question here after a couple of the above posts. How much does it matter where the F TR bipod is on the stock? IE: Furthest out on the anschutz rail. more rearward, or further back making a difference?
