Front rest

Does the front rest need cushioning? Im building a front rest top and replacing the sand bag on top with a piece of solid 3/4 inch thick plastic like in high end cutting boards and counter tops. I milled 2 slots to hold the rails on my sinclar bench block. my question is will this system hurt accuracy?

If you are shooting competition, look closely at the rules before doing this.

yes sir I have, its legal as long as the rifle can be picked up out of the rest.

Sand bags will help "deaden" viberations. Hard surface to hard surface contact will likely have the opposite effect......

Exactly what I found with a one pc. rest with delrin I didn't like the sound resonating through the stock. Can't confirm that it hurt accuracy but can say it didn't help other that return to POA.
