Front rest bag fill..????

I am filling a protektor front bag and was wondering if it should be left soft , real soft , medium or hard in your opinion.... Just using sand and it's the first one I have filled... I have read that hard is probably not what you would want.... Using this for hunting rifles sight in and just fun shooting , no competition guns etc....

Thanks in advance
Shawn

Yes, a personal preference. I shoot from 17 to 22 lb guns I prefer
dense, heavy sand, fore and aft. Your target will tell you......

You definitely want the bottom of the bag to feel soft if you were to poke it with your finger. If it is hard, when you move the rest up like going from the sighter to the record, you may not get the bag to keep full contact with the bottom of the stock giving you vertical shots until it settles down.

This is really personal preference. Just know that if the front bag is hard, the rear bag should be softer, and the opposite would be true. I personally like a very stiff front bag and slightly softer rear bag (most people would call my rear bag fairly firm though)

Ok thanks again for your help... My first time actually having to fill a bag and it's hard to find good advice on the subject except for if it's to hard you will get vertical.... I went ahead it left it a medium hard where the rifle can nestle down int it and it can be fluffed up a little if necessary...

If your just using it on a hunting rifle, I do use a medium bag
kept on a Bald Eagle rest just for that. Bean bag is my favorite
for the butt stock. It lets me move quickly thru our array of
hanging plates. I will also use that bean bag on the forend
when practicing a full shoulder hold for hunting. Wood chucks
though, it's all bipod.
