Front Bag for Hunting

dryhumor

When an old man dies, a library is lost forever...
Just sharing my thoughts.

Having noticed a few PRS shooters using these I started to wonder about them. I’ve used front bags/rests from time to time through the years, which might be sock with fill, a cheap bag, pack, or rolled up whatever. I’ve been using this Armageddon Gear bag all season, and the more I use it the more I’m liking it.

One of the main things I like about it is the ability to balance a rifle on it which means less movement. I’ve used it on limbs, window sills in box stands, draped over 2x4s in tower stands, flats, angles, vertical, all sorts of positions. I hunt most times with a pack, and these aren’t that heavy. Granted I’m not hiking miles and mountains either.

Some if not all Armageddon gear gamechangers can be ordered with Git Lite fill or it fan be purchased here.

Makes the bag super light compared to even the standard fill. Not quite as solid as the heavy sand fill but it's good enough for most situations.

I have several bags for different purposes. They stay in the truck so I know I'll always have them. I shoot from a tripod most of the time when stationary. I do a lot of drive by shooting from the truck when prairie dog hunting and always have a bag at the ready to lay on the open window. I also use a bag across the bed cover. Makes for a very steady shot.

I've used a W Gear Claw Bag for years. Works fantastic in my building blind and on my BogPod with PSR rest in the field. Made shots out to 420 with my 6.5/.284 handgun.

There’s a pint sized game changer in every blind, in the high rack, in my backpack, probably one on the kitchen table too.

It’s the best. I get the heavy ones but I really liked my friend’s light one as well.

There is a small bag by Allen made for resting on window seal (see link below). It has tabs that hand on both inside and outside of window seal so the bag doesn't fall or slide off. I just looked it up on Amazon at it is on sale for $10 (regular $18).

All that bag does is muffle some sound. It’s node wide (or should we say long) enough to help stabilize a rifle. It is cheap though, and probably worth having for some things at that price.

Clancy - Agree. It is purely there to provide some support and more importantly muffle any sound from your rifle contacting the window seal on a hunting blind. I only mentioned this item for the more casual shooter/hunter who might get surprised by a $120 shooting bag or a $800 tripod setup. :)

The Game Changer or even better a RailChanger with Arcalock Rail setup are totally different class of gear. They are serious kit for shooting enthusiasts and PRS.
