Hello Shooting Family,

Manatee, in Florida, hosted the inaugural 2024 season Freedom Benchrest 600 yard match. Tom Anderson won Light Gun and the Overall match victory. In Heavy Gun Keith Arndt took top honors. Other familiar names in the shoot were Mark Niezabitowski, who took second in Light Gun and Alex Wheeler, who was first in our hearts and Al Benarroch took third in Heavy Gun.

Conditions were rather pleasant with minimal mirage but some typical Manatee winds. For some shooters it was their first Freedom Benchrest exposure to different rule changes.

Today was a pleasant success. Matches on the 10 minutes schedule seem to run faster with no issues regarding sighters and score shots together in that time frame. Must have been a motivator as the friendship just seemed "over the top" for all the shooters.

More matches are coming after this weekend so think about January through April in Florida. The 600 yard fun with Freedom Benchrest just goes on.

The picture attached from left to right we have Lane Rickman, Keith Arndt, Sonny Korner, Steve Bertran, John Gaul, Mike Thompson, Mike Lowitz, Al Benarroch and sitting Tom Anderson.

Hope to see you all in our upcoming matches.

Thank you,

Al. B

Just, got home, what a great match. Not sure how it can get any better. Al runs a very smooth match. The target and scoring crew are on the ball. The food is excellent and theres plenty of it. The bs session in the evening is a great time with a lot of laughs. I really enjoyed format of the match as well. A full 10 minutes for the combined sighter and record period gives you a lot of options. Looking forward to next time!

Thank you all for making it happen.....good times, great food tons of laughs after dark and some shooting in between ;)

TomE, try Punta Gorda airport too....smaller airport and fewer airlines fly into it but you can get a better price and it's not much further

Hello Shooting Family,

Today was another great match!

Thank you to everyone that was able to make it out today.

The conditions were good barely any mirage but lots of wind at the end of the day.

Congratulations to all the winners and congratulations to John Gaul for the smallest group that has been shot at Manatee for Tactical with a 0.961, I am thinking it might be a record, but I am not sure.

I want to thank Alex and the kids from 4H Club that were running the targets and helped move the match quickly and efficiently.

I also want to thank you Mrs. Denise Lowitz for the great lunch we had and thank you to the volunteers.

Here is the picture of today's winners from left to right: Tom Anderson, Bob Longo, Timothy Devlin, Al Benarroch, Sonny Korner, John Granauro, Gary Smith, Jack Bockman, John Gaul, Bob Rosenstein and sitting is Mike Thompson.

I will be adding some pictures to the thread as well.

Thank you all again.

Excellent coverage - reports and pictures - of the weekend shoot. Al Benarroch and his staff literally do not rest, morning noon and night, to make these shoots successful.

Make the chance to join the event... January through April. You will be making yourself a memorable experience and reward their effort with your presence.
