Free float tube rest adapter

There were a couple of sources for basically a flat plate that mounted on the bottom of an AR free float tube so it would sit in a bench rest.

One was cheesy green plastic, while another was nicely machined aluminum, if I recall.

Anyone with better memory than mine?

Robert Whitley has an AR bag rider system on his web site. Go to http://www.6mmar.com/6mmAR_New_Products.html and check it out.

Viper,
Gary Elesio has a similar (non cheesey) design system for folks using his tube guns on the rest. His site is Competition Shooting Stuff.
cheers,
Doc

I have this, it's actually manufactured by EGW (Evolution Gun Works):
http://www.egwguns.com/bag-riders/egw-ar-bag-rider-bench-rest-system/

It works pretty well, and the rear bag rider for the A2 stock is especially helpful.

I stopped using the front one it because I have replaced all my sling studs on my AR float tubes with a section of Picatinny rail to also use the Atlas bipod, which can be mounted only with a Pic rail. Now I use a similar one made by my local smith from a piece of Delrin and some leftover parts that mounts directly to the Pic rail.

Tried to call Robert Whitley several times over the past few days, but no answer or returned calls. There does not appear to be any other way to order.

EGW device appears to be identical, for double the price.

Eliseo and Whidden devices require a tube with a slot, which I do not have nor want to mill. I have a Whidden one on my tube gun, and it is well made, but would not fit onto my Yankee Hill free float tube.

Huh? Both charge $75 for the front and rear bag riders as a set. Whitley charges $40 for just the front or rear, and EGW charges $35.

You are correct, sorry! I saw the photo on the EGW website of the front only and did not click the price box. Ill try to order from them.

I'm glad I saw this topic, I too have been trying to contact Robert Whitley for more than two weeks with no answer by phone or email. I will be contacting EGW for a front system.
