Four Savage Threads

It is hard to believe but there are Four Savage Threads running concurrently at the same time.

The Main Message Board has two:
"Why Didn't You Buy A Savage"
"So Why Did You Buy A Savage"

6BR, 6BR Improved & WildCats has one:
"Savage Model 12 Bench Rest"

Gear Talk: What To Buy and Gear Evaluations has one:
Custom Actions Vs Savage Actions

I just did not want anyone to miss something about this topic and to be honest they all say about the same thing.

Seems like the guys with the racing stripes are all a-twitter.

Can you imagine owners of Ferraris falling all over themselves to bash Camaros and somehow "prove" their Ferraris are better?

Why the urgent need to "prove" anything?

Considering that some of them are appaently top-gun, top-fuel Big Gun competitors, it's as if Michael Schumacher and his fellow F1 drivers were lining up to belittle 12-year-old Quarter Midget racers. Pretty amusing.

I have to disagree with your analogy. A lot of times they meet on the same firing line so they do need compared as apples to apples. But you are right at the end, When they are on the same line; it is like a Ferrari racing a Quarter Midget. Matt

FYI Michael Schumacher retired from F1 and has been in a coma after striking his head on a rock while skiing Dec 29th.

It's a very sad thing......friends of mine in the 4 wheel F1 racing world say it doesn't look good.

Back to the topic......I don't see why it matters, isn't that what the Forum is for, discussions.....Gold Box Lapua vs. Blue Box....Rem Age barrels, Nightforce over Vortex...etc.....unless you are the bandwidth police, lighten up it's nearing the end of winter (at least here in the Northern Hemisphere) and pretty soon we'll all be able to go outside and play with our toys!

Hmmm....If all those top fuel and F1 drivers were given a camaro to drive and the Ferraris were given to the "other" guys.... Are you saying the "other" guys would all win? That it's all in the car they are driving? That speed is a question of money and how fast do you want to go? If so, all we have to do is buy the most expensive action out there and we will win! Great, it's all clear now. Every match is "Bought", not earned. Much easier to understand now. ;D

I like 'em all. I "really" like custom actions! But, I think its the driver/shooter that makes the difference in the end. The amount of track/shooting time they put in and experience add more to the success. As a side note, way are some of the factory class matches being nicknamed "savage classes"? Hmmm, why would that be...?

We shouldn't bash the Savages or Savage guys too much(I'm a closet Savage fan). That rifle platform enables a lot of guys to get started shooting and making changes to their rifles. They find out they like it and start buying better stuff and start evolving into good shooters and then they start to acquire the taste for finer things, like Ferraris and joystick rests and custom bullets etc. Without that reasonable/competitive starting point, they may decide to take up any other hobby and not get into competitive shooting. It's not the cheapest hobby, but if you start with what you can afford and still compete....its a start. Lets face it, some of you are getting old and who's gonna take your place when you hang it up.

Also, I know some of you have been beaten by Savages and do not want to admit it after spending thousands of dollars on your rigs. I've got the a 600yd patch to prove it. I have a day job and can't afford to retire and travel to every match, just like so many others shooting Savages. I think it the winners were shooting Savages, they could still make them "win". ;D

Just my 20 cents.

Randfal, Good analogy :)

I would think you would have to be very conscious of not torquing on the trigger at a pound or very careful not to slam fire during a match..I agree that good shooters will be good shooters whether they use a Hart barrel or a cut Krieger or a Broughton, something wins then everyone jumps in line to get it and then next thing you know the winners list is full of them..I think other then the shooter the most important aspect to shooting is the reloading part of the game and having the funds to play full tilt.

Ray,

Having the funds to play at full tilt is exactly it!
Even once the equipment is bought, every time you pull the trigger it costs at least 50 cents in components loading your own ammo!

Experience to learn the wind takes a lot of those 50 cent trigger pulls!

Where did I say that?

What I said was that it looks pretty silly and insecure for top competitors with $$$ rigs to bash or make fun of those who in many cases aren't competitors – like hunters or casual shooters – or, if they are competitors, may not be able to afford Ferraris.

Clearer?

Didn't mean to twist the words that much Syncrowave. All is good. I just gotta add to the ribbing sometimes. No harm meant, just trying to have some fun with the debate. ;D
