Found a rifle in the gunroom

Found a rimfire in my gunroom that I have zero recollection of where it came from (I'm only 42!). I didn't buy it (according to my records) and every gun friend I know and knew in the past has no knowledge of it, so I guess I got a new project, lol!

Its a Marlin 989 auto. Apparently not an M2 variant as it does not have a hand guard. Has a strange little scope with a bolt-on dovetail mount.

Going to completely go through this thing with my youngest (15y/o) doing most of the work supervised, and make it his.

Anyone got any tips or info about these? Magaizines available? Trigger group parts? Does this use a buffer like the M60?

I know I can Google a lot of this, but I'm in the middle of loading for a match tomorrow.

Doing a little digging around the web, looks like this version was made from '62-'65 and just over 24,000 were made. Appears to be same design as the 99, 70, 75, 60 models and a few others. Should be a good match with my squirrel stock M60. Will get it down down and start cleaning it up.
