Fouling problem

Hey guys I have a new Savage Model 12 LRPV 6mm Br 1-8 twist and I took it out to brake it in today. I fired 5 shots and cleaned then 5 more and cleaned this way till I had shot 20 rounds. The ammo was factory 90g Lapua. When I got home from the range I cleaned it from the last 5 rounds I shot an I noticed that I could see copper on the lands at the end of the barrel. I clean with Shooters Choice,JB's and Kano Kroil. I also tryed a Brush and nothing seems to get rid of the copper. Accuracy is good with 3 five shot groups at less that .5 and the last group was 3 holes touching all done a 100yds. Do I need to worry about this fouling? And how do I get it out if I do.I've never had this problem before. Thanks for any help.

NICE, i have files with smaller teeth then that..

you start out with an 80gr bullet by the time it get through that mess it leaves a 68gr bullet.I own 4 Savage rifles if any of the barrels looked that bad i would send it back..

I guess there's always fire lapping out there you could try.

Savage barrels will shoot fairly well if you keep after removing all of the copper, dont be afraid to use a bronze brush on it, but only from the breech, and out the muzzle, even with it dipped in copper remover, like CR-10. And let it set and neutralize it per the instruction. When done with the bronze brush, I swish it around in a 12oz bottle of Lacquer thinner to clean it. Patch out the copper, neutralize the copper remover, dry patch several times, then patch with gun oil. And repeat if necessary.
You just have to keep after it, for maybe 50 to 100 rounds, but it will get better. And require less and less heavy cleaning.
I do not recomend using any abrasives in the barrel.

Shooter's choice isn't a copper solvent. Used to be you'd clean out the powder with Shooter's Choice, then get rid of the copper with Sweet's. Use a mop or wet patches to get the bore wet with copper solvent, not a brush. Now there's better stuff anyway. Butch's or Montana Extreme remove both powder and copper at the same time. You can also let either of those soak for days and it'll have no effect on the steel. Patches are cheap, use lots of them. Brake cleaner works real well to clean brushes.

Boretech Eliminator is the best copper remover I have used. The only liquid I have found that gets both copper and powder is Montana Extreme Copper Killer. For heavy copper fowling in a new barrel with tooling damage I would probably do a three and clean with BT Eliminator.

Find someone with a bore scope and check the condition of the bore. If it's like Donovan says then I would be on the phone to Savage. I can't believe their letting a 6BR gun out with a bore that rough. My $0.02.

I second on boretech,it's the best I've ever used.On really bad build up I also use wipe-out.GM top engine cleaner for carbon. That Savage barrel will get better as you shoot and clean it.

Thanks for all the help guys. I got the copper out with several different cleaners and brushing. Your help was great and again thanks to all.
