Forum Boss, & Moderators!!

I'd just like to give out a Big Thanks too all that put in many man hours to make this site possible! I registered 06/09/2009. I have had a love of Shooting & Hunting all my life. Until 2010 I never owned nothing but stock factory rifles. All of my loading skills and ability to shoot came from reading books, and just some hard knock lessons. As well at this point I had never shot past 500yd with anything other than factory rifles. I wanted to get involved in competitive shooting but I did not have the resources to. As I entered life into the New Millennium... I had to put my dreams of long range shooting a side. Due to Starting a family! (my priorities changed) Getting my feet back on the ground and creating a stable home life for my family. I decided I was going to start shooting again. Going back to some old notes I started shooting my factory rifles again! A lot had changed since then! I had the power of the internet now to search for what I truly wanted to get involved in. So I done just that. Again I begin to read and try to learn and improve. I was getting frustrated with all the learning curves!!!!!! Plus trying to weed through all the BS talk on the net. One forum member on this site stood out to me. I Trusted my instinct to PM (Fdshuster) Asking a lot of questions and trying to figure out all the custom match grade chambers, reamers, throat length, etc. Basically trying to figure out a intirely different world as to accuracy and competition shooting. My intrest at this point was BR. So I decided to build a 6BR. Little did I know I was about to fall in love with a completely different discipline of shooting! While I was waiting on my 6BR build to become complete. I decided to take a Savage 10fcp in 308win and just go to Camp Butner and shoot in F/Open because I did not have a bi pod so I had to shoot off a front rest, Witch put me in F/open. I figured the worst that could happen would be they would just ask me to leave or not shoot and watch! Upon pulling in the Pitts at Camp Butner I was so lost! I was looking for someone to ask where I needed to go what I needed to do? I had know Idea? I looked to my right and seen a Gentleman wearing a Precision Rifle and tools tee shirt. I had been on the net enough to know That this company had built the very rifle that Charles Ballard set, and at that time the F/open record of 200 13x at 1000yd, and Charles was a 2 time National Champ. So I gambled that I would just walk up and speak to this gentleman and take things as it came? That Gentleman was Ray Bowman himself! I'll never forget how nervous I was that morning, Nor will I ever forget how courteous, and helpful Ray was! Not only that Ray put me in the hands of James Corfts, Mike Hardy, and Joe Conley! Some of the best guys you could ever meet! I was in AHH! of the Patience and hospitality these guys showed me that day. I was having the time of my life! Little did I know it was about to even get better! I had not planned on shooting the 2man team match. I figured who would want to shoot with me? So I didn't load enough ammo to shoot the team match. Then along comes Pete LaBerge! LR champion and Former USA Palma team captin! Pete says I have plenty of ammo and you can shoot my rifle if you want to shoot, and we can shoot the team match? I paused to ansewer not because I didn't want to shoot but I couldn't grasp The words I had just heard from such a accolimpshed shooter willing to hand over such a offer!? However My answer was yes! There was nothing to lose and so much to gain here! Keep in mind Pete's rifle in a right handed rifle, with a cheek peace design for a right handed shooter. I really had to climb over the stock being I was a left handed shooter! Not only that Pete was trying out a new trigger and it was at 3lbs respectfully With a lot of Creep! Pete shot first and I had know info to offer as a coach. How could I!? I got up on the rifle and dry fired it a few times to get a feel for the trigger and rifle itself. I had know Idea what I was doing as to wind and mirage! So I decided I was going to take in as much as I could and learn from the Opportunity that I had. I held just where Pete told me too! We Won the Team match and I actually out shot Pete with his own rifle! I got home and Was just in AHH! WOW!!!!!

I have since become a Customer of Precision Rifle and tools, and It's the best decision I have ever made!!!!! I get the up most honest truth and respect from Ray Bowman! I get EXACTLY what ever I ASK for! Ray is a true Honest Christan man, and to add One of the best gunsmith's in our Country!

With all the above said! I have to give thanks! To those that make this site Possible! This Site is where it all begun for me! It's where I found the answers to a dream come true! (so to speak) It's the info on this site that allowed me to find alot of great friends, and achieve past goals as well set future goals! Thanks to all! I wish everyone a Happy New year!!!!!!

Thanks To all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mark!!

Mark,
GREAT STORY!! It is funny our stories are very similar, I have been on here March 1st of 2010, took in my first competition 1K match in August of the same year, I have been shooting all my life and competing on my own range for years but not in a true match. I found this forum and the same man that has helped you has helped me many times (fdshuster) and Boydallen also, I also agree with you that the forum boss and moderators need a big thanks for a site that has made many of my dreams a reality and a lot of enjoyment, a hang out I can hang out at and not leave my living room to do it ;) Great thread Mark and a great site, so thanks to all involved it making it happen.
Sincerely Wayne.

Kudos to you Mark for telling your story!!

Way to many times we see the sob stories or other weenie whiny tale of woe... It is great to hear of your positive experiences and of the good that some of the more experienced are sharing/showing to us less knowledgeable.

Yes this is a great site with a lot of great members!

Rod

Thanks for the story Mark. This website has gotten me shooting in a similar way. No interesting story like your's, but I've been shooting some good groups. I don't have as much money as I used to, but I sure am having fun.
