Sometimes something very, very special comes together just as you had imagined (and hoped for). For me, this "special something" is my new Light Gun -- a project three years in the making.

Great Components from Great Guys
This beauty was made possible by some very good "Friends of the site". The Viper drop-port action came from Jerry Stiller. The 1:8"-twist Brux Barrel was donated by Robert Whitley. Chambering and barrel-fitting were done by Mike Davis as a service to the site. Dave Manson provided the 6mm BRDX reamer. And the stunning figured Walnut and Maple laminated stock came from Ray Bowman of Precision Rifle & Tool, who also bedded and finished the stock. This walnut was a premium blank Ray had been saving for his own use, but he donated it for this project. Ray even did a special modification to the design of PR&T's benchrest stock, using, as the template, a blank I re-carved myself. I wanted the stock to conform better to my shooting hand than an ambidextrous stock, so the wrist/grip area was left full on the left, but carved out on the right and over the comb, so the hand indexes with thumb right behind the bolt.

I haven't even touched the gun yet... we have to do all the FFL stuff first and get the gun to California. But rest assured, we'll see how she shoots and we'll give you a full report on the BRDX as an option. John Whidden will be supplying sizing dies for the project.

Paul,
she is a beauty I hope she shoots as good as she looks, if so the three years in the making will be well worth it! Keep us informed on how she performs for you my friend ;)
Wayne.

Seb,

Don't know the weight yet, but it should easily make 17 lbs. with the barrel taper and aluminum Viper action. We will be testing it on the SEB Neo rest you provided. We're all anxious to see how the BRDX performs. The chamber is throated for 105gr Hybrids in the lands. We'll also try Lapua and Spencer bullets.

What a great looking rifle. Sleek and fast, it looks like it's going ninety standing still. :)

Post a few more pictures or your new rifle in action, in all it's glory, setting on your Seb rest.

Paul, grrrrrrrrreat looking rifle and hope you do a full length story about it in the foreseeable future.

I'm not a wood man, but that is pretty! Now all you need is a nice 12-42 NXS with the HS adjustments to put on top!

Awesome, with Beautiful Wood.............................Shot a drop port once, and regret not buying it.

Great lloking gun. I'm sure it will shoot as good as it looks.
This gun was in the works for quite some time. Hope you post results when you get to shoot it.

Barry,

We definitely will do a full report, because I know many folks are interested in the BRDX as an option to the 6BRX and 6 Dasher. We don't expect any accuracy advantage over those well-proven 6mmBR improveds, but Sam Hall believes fire-forming should be easier since the shoulder is not blown as far forward. With a longer neck, there should be more versatility with bullet lengths, and we should be able to "chase the lands" more easily than with a Dasher/BRX. But that's all theory so far. We'll see what shooting reveals. Thanks for your interest (and yes, Barry I think I discussed the background of this project with you...).

OH HOW SWEET IT IS. I love hearing and seeing someone get a new toy. The long wait and anticipation i bet was well worth the wait. Enjoy it and keep the barrel as warm as often.

Paul, I walked into Ray's shop a cpl of weeks of ago, and your stock was laying there. I remember telling Ray What Man could not be happy with this? WOW!! You will like the Brux barrel. I have 3 and could not be happier with them! I have heard great things about Mike Davis, and of course Ray just does some amazing things with his stocks and Rifle builds. Congrats!!
