Forster Co-Ax Issues?

Winchester 69: No, the Auto Prim II does not clear the handle. I'll be getting a RCBS hand priming tool before long, until then I'm just using the press.

I don't seem to be having any difficulties with the collet dies in this press. Everything works great, and is super precise. Over the course of 25 bullets I'm getting .0005" C.O.L. variation (Redding Competition bullet seater). With my old Lee press I was getting .002 to .003" differences.

Great choice Gearhead, welcome to the C0-Ax club, you wont be sorry. About the short ball handle, some guys dont even use a handle to seat bullets. But I just leave the shortie in most of the time. The only exception is for F.L. sizing 308s for an M1A.
Mike.

Besides trapping the springs between the jaw housing and shell plate with a screw, I have found an alternative way to keep the spings from flying across the room.
I make a new jaw housing with the springs in drilled holes, not cast slots.
While I as at it I made it thicker and wider so stuck cases can't bend the housing, and I put the chamfer for the jaw opening screw on the correct side of the housing [on the bottom].

Boy that is good thinking Clark. Like the beefy plate. And what’d you drill those spring holes in from the outside and put the right length pin in there so the springs were compressed the right amount and the jaws could still be swapped end for end without any trouble?

Bill,
Thanks for the kind words.

I first made a drawing of the Forster part and made a copy.
Then I made a drawing of an improved part and made one.

So I have made the spring slots version and I have made the spring pinned holes version, and hole hangs onto the springs better.

Having springs fly across the reloading area does teach a guy to keep the place cleaned up:)
