Forming 7x57 from 8x57 cases

Does anyone see a problem with doing this?

I was thinking about running 8x57 cases thru my 7x57 die then trimming to length. I was hoping to avoid NT if possible. The issue is that there is a shortage of 7x57 brass here in Australia unless u want the premium stuff. I have plenty of 8x57 lying about which I thought might be usable.

Comments and thoughts appreciated.

greetings big daddy, I don't see why that would't work you may not even have to turn the necks. I make 257 roberts from 7x57 and the necks fit just fine. regards, treeman

Thanks mate. I htought it wouldnt be a big deal. I have some factory 7x57 that I might use as a comparator for neck thickness after forming

Measure the neck OD of a fired case; that will give you an idea of chamber size. If the re-sized brass with bullet seated has 0.003" or more clearance, you're good to go.

NOTE EDIT: You will need the clearance with the reloaded round, not the re-sized brass.
