Forming 6XC from once fired 22-250 brass

I have been using new win. brass to form my 6XC brass with good results. I have a pile of once fired rem and win 22-250 brass I got from a friend who shoots varmints and doesn't reload. Has anyone used once fired 22-250 brass to form 6XC? Does it work as well as new brass?

I can't imagine why it wouldn't work, as long as it's truly once-fired.

If you form up a couple & find the sides collapsing,mushrooming) more than what you've seen with new brass you might want to try using a propane torch to anneal the shoulder and necks before forming up any more.

I have used brass thats been fired more than once and its worked fine. But, spclark had a good solution if you run into a problem.

I have just started using my 6XC and i had a hard time finding Norma brass so i started my breakin and some test shooting also with remington 22-250 brass fired 10times,tight chamber). And they gave me really nice 6xc cases. I used the 'mushroom free' method from the XC section using a 30BR die.

Now i use norma brass and its great. was looking att 6.5x47 brass also if that could work but i have to check if someone have tried it already.

It might not work. Brass hardens due to the amount of strain energy put into the casing. This is why annealing after repeated firing may be required to regain accuracy.

Work hardening,or avoiding it) is why new or annealed cases are recommended for fireforming.
