forming 20 Vartarg Turbo cases

kenbo,
Yes they can. I use once fired LC brass to form my 22 Vartarg Turbo cases. The way I do mine is to remove the button from my 222REM FL dies and start with the shoulder of the brass just touching the shoulder of the die and then turn the die in a quarter of a turn until I reach a quarter turn from proper length. Make sure you keep your brass well lubed for this will take several passes through your die, I try to do 25 -50 cases at a time. Once I finish that step, I then use an expander to open the case mouth. Then I cut to length, chamfer and debur. You will experience some rinkling while forming your brass, if not to deep it will take care of itself. Then I use my 22 VTT FL die for my final forming which helps with forming the proper angle of the shoulder and length. After all that you may need to turn your necks. I don't neck turn, I have a .251 neck in my chamber.

221 Fireball brass can only be used for the Vartarg because of its length so you must use 222REM or longer for the Vartarg Turbos.
I have not experinced any splits after about 8 reloads. Maybe its because I don't push them to maximum capacity.

It's not difficult, just another step to form good brass. Here is how I do it.

I have been thinking about the Vartarg turbo also, any problems with doughnuts forming where the shoulder is pushed back? And it does end up with a longer neck than the 222 correct? I have been looking for a print just can find one. im torn between the 222 and 22 VTT

Do not have a 20VTT print , but have a 6VTT print from PTG. That plus previous conversations I had with TK on the 6VTT indicates that the shoulder of the 222 case is not pushed back. The base to the body/shoulder junction is actually approx. 0.02" longer on the 6VTT; probably the result of increasing the shoulder angle from 23* to 30*. The overall case length of the VTT is approx. 0.1" shorter than the 222. Thus, the neck needs to be trimmed a little. Call Todd and chat with him.
