Forgetting Gear on Trip to Range

this happened. i drove out to the range, ready to have some fun, and when i got there realised i had forgotten some essentials. i had my cap-n-balls but no percussion caps. did i feel stupid boyos. thankfully i did find a couple stuck in the seats so it wasn't total bust. has this ever happened to you?

A couple of weeks ago, an ex-range safety officer showed up to try out some reloads in his (relatively new-to-him) AR-10 (in one of the flimsy Plano hard cases.) After about 15 minutes of talking with friends, he tosses his rifle case on the bench, waits for a cease fire, walks down to hang his target, and waits some more for a hot range. Range opens, and he arranges stuff on the bench, opens the case - no rifle. I have no idea how you can not miss a 15lb AR-10 missing from a 3lb case.

I had another friend who, while testing benchrest loads, brought the wrong rifle.

I've forgotten stuff, but nothing I couldn't work around. Pistol shooting glasses frames, rifle ammo, cleaning stuff. Lots of times I've made a mental note to refill my stock of rimfire ammo in the truck and gotten back to the range before reading my mental note.

Stuff happens. Smile sheepishly and move on.

Wilbur Harris drove to Mickey Coleman's to work on his rail gun.

Cleaned my rifle and went to the range. Bolt was still sitting in my toolbox. At the range the other day and someone got out their AR10 but no ammo for it!!

Did go on a hunt with a joker who turned up, 200 miles from home with a box of 6.5mm ammo and a 12 gauge shotgun.

Me too, it's over an hour one way for me to get to the range so I prepare the night before. Double check everything the next morning, so far..............it's worked out okay, so far.........................

I've forgotten hearing protection (no, I didn't shoot), my rest, grabbed wrong ammo, grabbed wrong rifle.

The worst is coming home from the range, opening the back of the car and asking yourself, "where's my rifle?".

Yeah, it's happened.

I've forgotten bolts at home.. multiple times. And the drive time to range is 40 mins one way.
Once both me and my friend went to a match and both of us forgot our shooting mats. Had to shoot from a cold concrete pad in March in NW.
The best story I've heard is somebody showing up to a match to realize there were no primers in the loaded cartridges.

My father in law forgot to check the calender. Drove 8 hours on Friday to a motel. Got to the range Sat morning to discover the match was the previous weekend. I guess there was not much conversation on the ride home.
