Forend sag

When I fitted the 1.25" x 32" bbl I started to get contact with bbl and stock. Did some relieving, did some relieving again and now I see it is touching again. What would be the best solution? Adding some stiff material to the stock through the forend or shim up front of action and rebed? Or just stick with HV bbls?

I really don't know the maker. Got it used with the M action. It has a Wheeler rudder so it might be McM.

More clearance is the answer, be it the barrel or the barrel channel. Historically, people have judged a gunsmith's workmanship by how well the wood to metal finish is on a nice custom rifle. There's a lot to be said for that workmanship but when it comes to accuracy, more is better, to a large degree. Form follows function on an accurate rifle.

That said, a clean look can still be had but clearance is ALWAYS a necessity..to me. It doesn't take a lot of clearance to be enough..roughly a business card thickness will be fine. I'm not a fan of the dollar bill trick, especially any time there is pressure applied to the stock via a rest or bipod.

I'd mill out the barrel channel if it were mine. If that's not an option, a smaller bbl contour will do the trick.

Agree that dollar bill isn’t enough clearance. Business card or notebook paper folded twice (4 pieces thick) is also what I consider a ‘minimum’.

Might depend on what you find less appealing - re-bedding or removing material from the stock. If wooden stock, I'd use as an excuse to pillar bed it if is has not already been done. Set pillars 3/32" or so proud of your bedding and re-bed, tapering the rear of the action to the stock with epoxy fill
