Fore end inletting

Can The HS presicion brand of stocks be inletted with tooling for a foreend rail for handstop? I already have a very accurate rifle that I would like to use for learnine prone highpower but wish to not have to purchase an entire new stock and inlet and bed and sand and bla bla bla.

I have seen it done, but to be sure I would talk to them and see if it is feesable or sell and get a new stock.I know it sucks but I am sure a good smith could do the job or maybe HS will do it for you.

H-S does offer forend rails with adaptors. So, it must be possible. I suspect that a sharp, carbide cutter is required as the composite contains Kevlar.

I tried contacting HS about this a month ago and they didn't reply. :-[ I am thinking that it would be a fun learning experience. I just don't want to mess up the stock beyond repair. It was my first precision built rifle by mike Bryant and I am hesitant to cut on the stock.

Minesweeper,
You can inlet the forend for a rail. Carbide is not necessary, but will do just fine. HS precision stocks are built very well and will retain their stiffness with the ail installed. I would suggest that you use an Anschutz type rail and mill the slot about .020" shallow of the depth of the ail itself in order to ensure clearance of any handstop that you decide to use. Once the slot is milled, epoxy the rail in place and if you choose, add a few small screws to hold the rail in place while the epoxy sets up. You will be very happy with the results, and it will last for the life of the rifle.
