Force required to seat a bullet?

Have any of you measured in pounds or ounces the force required to seat a bullet in a 6br? I'm looking for a weight range. Least amount to greatest.

Working on a cool project.

Thanks
Kris

I've experimented with my hydro press and a small scale.

Based on that and my seating pressures, the 6 dasher I'm shooting runs anywhere from about 10 lbs (light neck tension) up to approximately 60 lbs (Heavy neck tension / new cases with unlubed necks) of actual force to seat a bullet.

Hope this helps.

I get a consistent 10psi seating pressure with .268 bushing on unturned Lapua 6br brass using the Hydro Press, can’t recall seating pressure with virgin 6br brass but it is considerably higher.

Cheers Rushty

30 with the K&M. 6brx Lapua brass, no turn, .267” bushing and annealed with AMP annealer every time. No case cleaning other than a wipe down with an alcohol soaked rag after sizing.

Do they give you a conversion or have you ever measured with a scale what the numbers on a k&m mean? Or is it just a number so you can see deviation only?

On the K&M tool the snout that contacts the top of the seater die has a calibrated spring that compresses and the readout is in .001” on a dial indicator. I’m in Phoenix right now shooting the Berger SW Nationals but when I get home I’ll confirm, but I think the literature stated that each .001” of compression/deflection was equivalent to 1lb of force.

I am not concerned with the actual number. What I absolutely love is how the press gives me a number for every case I load and from there I can sort based on what that number is. Some cases are 10-15, some are 45-55...those go into the fouler pile. My ‘for record’ box was at or very close to 30.
