For those that have a FX120i

Had a chargemaster.

I'm on the waiting list for the autotricller V4. While I wait I'm using Lee scoops along with a Dandy trickler on the FX
Also using just the scale with a manual trickler until my V4 shows up. Works pretty well as is.

Are you implying the Dandy with the open trickler is inferior to the Auto trickler? Have you used that setup? If not, you have no basis for your opinion.
If you would stop reading things into what I post, you would be better off.

I've used a Dandy trickler for almost 3 years. It is much better than any other trickler I had used previously. It allowed me to reduce my charge weight variation to around 0.04 gr. That was a great improvement over what my previous setups were capable of.

No I have never used the Dandy with the open trickler setup. So I have no way of knowing how it performs. To do that, I would either have to build my own, or find someone that has already done that. All of that would take me away of things that provide me the most satisfaction.

My reply was directed toward the OP @logandiana yet somehow you took it upon yourself to feel like I was criticizing your setup. The OP never inferred he was going to use your setup.

My experience and opinion is that the autotrickler that Adam built is far superior to how the Dandy worked when I used it. Too much monkeying around to get different powder to flow properly. The switch quit working consistently and I had to take it apart to correct the problem. But I still think it is an excellent trickler.
But one thing I am certain of. I'm sure that there are folks on this forum, that do almost everything better than I do. I can live with that. I learn from what they share and I benefit from that. I thought this forum was to be a sharing of experiences and opinions without having to justify to anyone.

I throw with a Harrell’s, and trickle up with the auto-trickler. I am waiting on the V4. Current set up works fine and give me practice with the Harrell’s.

Thanks for all the responses. I think based on the feedback I am going to throw with my RCBS uniflow (with micrometer), then trickle up using my dandy. I may then look at the V4 options once everything is released.

I too have had to take apart my three Dandy tricklers a number of times to correct problems with the switch.
Three tricklers because I didn't have the patience to correct the problem at first so I just ordered another online. After three purchased I decided to work out how to the correct the problem. A bit of a fussy job with a soldering iron.
I have a Promethius, but only load one cartridge/powder with it, leaving it set up for one competition combination. When I load other other powder load combinations I revert to balance beam and Dandy trickler.
I do like the look of the FX 120 and Auto trickler combination, and would most likely go that way if I didn't have the Prometheus.

I’m waiting for the rest of the V3 setup to arrive, so I am currently using a shot glass that I I’ll with a RCBS Uni flow. I place a lighter filled shot glass on the 120 plate then trickle up with a regular rcbs hand trickled that has a drink straw shoved up it a little way. He trickler sets on a couple of cedar wedge door shims to facilitate flow thru the straw.

V4 is ready for purchase. Go get it!

I generally throw a charge from a manual thrower or a CM1500, then adjust the charge based on what my Adam scale (Highland [some letter]123) reads. Slow but if you account for scale drift (and zero often), it seems reasonably accurate.

I have been waitlisted for a V4 AutoTrickler, which I am looking forward to using.

Until a couple weeks ago I was using my FX120 in the same manner. RCBS Uniflow with micrometer upgrade to get close and finish with my Dandy. It works quite well and all was right with my world.
I just upgraded to the V3 version of Autothrow and AutoTrickler and all I can say is WOW.
The first few times I used it things weren't that much quicker but, now that I am getting past the initial confusion of just how to make things smoother, I see it being 3X faster (and more accurate) than my old process. BTW, I put the new setup to a test right off by throwing 104 grains of ball powder using it and it worked flawlessly.
I own an older USA made RCBS 10-10 (Parker tuned) scale, three RCBS Uniflow and one Redding BR powder measures stacked in the cabinet now. My RCBS Chargemasters have all bent sent on their way to new homes.
If you get an extra powder scoop for the Autothrow and Trickler and add weight so that they are identical you can make the process significantly faster yet.

I did get an extra scoop. As soon as I get more comfortable with it I may try the double scoop method.
