For those that have a FX120i

Is everyone using the autothrow/autotrickler attachments or is anyone using it just as a scale? Was thinking I could just get away with using my normal RCBS thrower, set the dish on the scale and then just trickle up with my dandy trickler. Been doing that way currently with a beam scale, but does seem to take a while. Had a chargemaster for a bit but never had confidence in its accuracy.

Yes, that's how I use my FX scale. I throw with my Lee thrower and with the cup on the scale I'll trickle up with my Frankford Arsenal trickler. It works quite well and just as fast, if not faster, as my Chargemaster that I almost never use now.

I have the scale but didn't go the Auto trickler route. I went with -

But use a Dandy with it instead.

Had a chargemaster.

I'm on the waiting list for the autotricller V4. While I wait I'm using Lee scoops along with a Dandy trickler on the FX

+1

I also just use it as a replacement for my balance beam. I did buy one of those RCBC adjustable base tricklers, because my old Redding was too short in the base and tube. Be careful of getting stray powder granules on the weighing surface. Your setup should work just fine.

For anyone using a Dandy, a tilt base comes in handy.

Wasn't sure how to include just post #41.

Used a balance beam to finalize my charge after the ChargeMaster threw it light (not a Scott Parker tuned beam). Not impressed and very slow

Tried a Gem Pro, too much drift

Had 2 ChargeMasters, so I threw the first one light, and finished in the second one using a Dandy (like Eric Cortina did in the video). Did this for 2-3 years

Finally broke down and got the Fx120i WITH the auto trickler but not the auto throw. I throw 3 gr light with my ChargeMaster and finish on the Fx120i. Both run about the same time interval so loading goes along smoother. I mainly went without the auto throw as I felt I could change powders easier using the RCBS than the auto throw and setting my drop weight is just punching in number and dispense. Can't say if I would be happier with the auto throw.

But I can say, having the Fx120i without the auto trickler would be like having a car and not buying gas for it. It is that nice and convenient. Sure you can use the Dandy, but why would you?

I sold the extra ChargeMaster, sold the Dandy, and am very happy with what I have now.

Until a couple weeks ago I was using my FX120 in the same manner. RCBS Uniflow with micrometer upgrade to get close and finish with my Dandy. It works quite well and all was right with my world.
I just upgraded to the V3 version of Autothrow and AutoTrickler and all I can say is WOW.
The first few times I used it things weren't that much quicker but, now that I am getting past the initial confusion of just how to make things smoother, I see it being 3X faster (and more accurate) than my old process. BTW, I put the new setup to a test right off by throwing 104 grains of ball powder using it and it worked flawlessly.
I own an older USA made RCBS 10-10 (Parker tuned) scale, three RCBS Uniflow and one Redding BR powder measures stacked in the cabinet now. My RCBS Chargemasters have all bent sent on their way to new homes.

Before I got the V3 auto tric, I used the factory canopy with the front screen removed. I placed a Saturn powder funnel in the hole in the top and set the RCBS hand trickler over the funnel. I would use an adjustable powder dipper on line or the Chargemaster (depending) for the rough throw into an Area 419 powder cup and finished off the trickle.

I have the autotrickler setup. I custom made a windshield for the fx120i that has an opening on top center. I also custom made a powder scoop that drops 1 grain below target powder charge. I charge a round in a matter of seconds.
