? for Fireball

Fireball i am considering building a 20PPC and was wondering what your recomendations where i am wanting to shoot the 39gr Blitzking and the 40gr V-max and 40gr Berger . I am wanting to get a Pac-nor 3 groove barrel and was thinking that the 1n12 twist would be right, what do you think? And any more info you can give will be helpfull .

Thanks for the info Fireball . I have been beating my brain to death trying to decide if i wanted a 20PPC or a 20Tactical and i think that i have made up my mind to go with 20PPC . I just think that the 20PPC has more to offer and i really like the short fat cartridges . I amy be talking to you some more whenever i get closer to getting it built, it will be a little bit before i get started, i am just trying to get all of my ducks in a row .Also i was wondering do you think that the 1n11 twist would be better than the 1n12 to try and shoot the 40gr bullets or do the 39's shoot good enough not to worry about it, i like the 39gr Blitzking better anyway, but was just wondering . One more question what reamer did you use on both of yours? I am wanting to turn the necks just enough to clean them up. Thanks again for the info .

Each of mine were done with seperate, but very similar reamers. The first was done by Bruce at BAT with a .237" neck short throat reamer. The second was done with the same neck but with a slightly longer throat,I can give you the print number for this reamer if you need it). Both shoot the same, extremely good. I don't turn my cases but with the .237" neck reamer you could do a cleanup turn.

The thing I like about the 20PPC is that it is just so accurate. I have had expeirence with three of them now and they all have shot like competitive benchrest rifles, seriously. My buddy Jim has some groups like those published in Precision Shooting with his 20PPC. Plus, the powder capacity is perfect for the 39/40s. I think the 20PPC is the best of the big 20s for a non-repeating rifle.

1-12" is perfect for the 40s. But there is nothing wrong with the 1-11 either. I go with the standard 1-12 because I always put Liljas on my rifles and that is what twist they make.

Fireball tahnks for all of the info it has been very helpfull i dont need the print, i am thinking that i will probally go with a .235'' neck, i am going to call David this week and see what he has on file . I really like the Lilja barrels but i am wanting to try a Pac-nor since i have never had one and everybody seems to like them . I will probally go with the 1n12 since i really want to shoot the 39gr Blitzkings, i just think they are a more accurate bullet and perfect for what i want . Thanks for all of your help, you are a great asset to us up and coming 20 caliber shooters . :thumb:
