I purchased my first rifle with a suppressor ready threaded muzzle.

Factory threaded with interrupted threads from the Marlin factory in 1905. To be used with Hiram Maxim’s suppressor 120 years ago. Still retains its original thread protector.

The Maxim Silencer was the first commercially successful firearm sound suppressor, developed by Hiram Percy Maxim (son of Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim, who invented the Maxim machine gun).

Rifle is a Marlin 1897 22LR. I do not have a Maxim Suppressor for it. Perhaps someday I will find one at auction somewhere.

If you can determine the thread pitch/diameter, you might be able to locate a thread adapter to fit a modern can.
Silencer Central perhaps? Failing that, perhaps a machinist could make one for you. Likely far cheaper than to source an original Maxim.

Frankly, suppressors don’t interest me in the least. I doubt I will ever purchase one. To use on this particular rifle it would need to be eccentric like the Maxim in order to not block the front sight and it would need to be removed every time to reload. The rifle was just too nice to pass up. The bore is like new and its a joy to shoot.

That is cool on so many levels, and it looks to be in near perfect condition. Good find! Take as good care of it as the previous owner and your grand kids will have a beautiful rifle when you decide to pass it on.
