Follow-up to killing primers

On March 14th I asked for info on killing primers in WWll steel 45ACP cases Thanks to all that replied.
Heres what I found.
A. soaking the cases in soapy water kills the
primer.
B. the primers seem to be about .010 undersize
the primer pocket can be reamed to the
corret size.
C. the extractor groove is different. the few
empty cases I tried manually extracted from
my Sig/Sauer P245.
In closing the process seams to work ,for me, however untill I find a quick and easy way to remove the crimp it does not seem to be worth the effort. Thanks again

Soapy water is how we do it @ the ammunition's plant where I work. Why wouldn't you just shoot it? I missed your original post.

Greybeard,

Didn't see the original thread here, so I don't know if this was mentioned or not, but the steel cased WWII 45 ACP ammo was loaded with an odd sized primer. Somewhere between the small pistol and the normal large pistol priers we use today. I don't think you'll be able to open those pockets up to a point where they are truly viable for normal primers. Not sure why you'd want to do this anyway, since there's not exactly a shortage of ACP cases :-\.
