Fog, rain, mud, slop....pffttt

Due to all the rain & snow we have had in the past week I thought I should not go out last night for coyote as I knew it would be wet, muddy & sloppy. As I was headed out it starts to mist 6 mile from home, not to bad I was thinking, as long as it don't rain. Got to the ranch and naturally on the 2 track through the pastures it was muddy, sloppy/slippery, but I only needed to go 1/2 mile. Parked & walked 1/4 mile to one of my spots they use getting to food sources. Darn now it starts to rain lightly then heavy mist, so everything is wet.
Finally after 45 min of this and it clears a bit I see the 1st coyote coming by, yeaup from behind me and it ducks into the creek line and I cant see it. It does not pop up below my spot and stays in the cattle down there. Now the heavy fog drops right in & within seconds Im surrounded.
I turn back around and I see another one coming in out of the north with my thermal scanner, cant make out anything but a hot signature (coyote for sure) and when it turns & stops I drop it at 191 steps from my seat. Big female.
At this point I decide its time to wrap it up and on my way to the truck the fog clears as quick as it set in and I walk & scan. Yup when Im 50 yards from the truck I see 2 coyote below me in the cattle pasture mousing. I lip squeak and the female (it squats to pee on its way to me) makes a good trot my way, stopping & sniffing, finally goes broadside as it stops when 2 killdeer fly up, thwaaap drop it at 175 steps.
I see its partner trot off but cant get a shot towards the ranch houses and its low in the grass, trees on the creek, be safe than sorry!
I stand up knocking over my stool as I do some female yipping trying to get that one to show out of the dense creek line and see a coyote circling behind me. Darn that has to be the one from earlier that was behind me. I shift quickly around the truck, sit on the 2 track, yipping at it when it stops for a side shot...Thwaaap 331 steps.
Nice ending with 3 coyote, 2 female, 1 male.
Rancher is happy as usual. Im wet, gun soaked, mud to my thighs, bloody but smiling.

Gumbo. Glad you did not get stuck.

Been looking at the weather there. Way better than the mid-west but still wet lately. It will dry for you and you will have more good days soon. Thanks for the tales of adventure.
