Fn single shot mausers

I have two fn mauser single shot actions.

One is a magnum bolt face , the other is 223 family size.

I have no barrels triggers or stocks. These are new old stock and the reason I purchased them was to build old school target / bench guns.
I am looking for imput on cartridge choices and stock styles that would "fit" with these two actions.

Thanks for your imput.

.222 Remington for the one with the small bolt face. A stock style similar to the Remington 40X would seem appropriate, I would think. The mag bolt face should be set-up with a .30/.338 barrel. Both cartridges I've mentioned are "old school" favorites.

Are they the recent pair from Gunbroker? I'm jealous. I wanted them but too many projects going on right now...besides, 5 FN single shots is enough...for now. :D

The big problem with the 222 Mag and 6x47 is the availability of brass...

That said, I’d opt for the 6x45. Sure you gupive up a bit of neck length, but you’ll give up more from the Mauser action than loss from the neck length.

As for the other, I’d seriously consider a 6mm Seely Masker Wasp. Shoots as well as the PPC.

Old Skool Rulez!

Stick with a 222 not mag . Brass is MUCH better . If you go mag you'll have 50 percent trash brass . It'll be banana shaped . You'll gain very little with the mag and have headaches . The std 222 or 6 TCU would be my choices .
I even have a few on Parker hale single shot Mausers .
As for the mag bolt face , short grass has it spot on , 30.338 , I've got one that was a screamer in the late 70s . Still is great but a little bit of a thumper for the bench now . It must of kicked less when I was younger !

Any of the TCU family. The 6x47 (222 Mag) was the sweet heart of the BR world before the PPC. Will that action stand the pressure of the WinShortMagnum?
