Hows a reamer floating while it being held on the tailend in a tailstock thats not on center gunna let a floating reamer holder float? My lathe compensates for left and right but “what if” my tailstock is high or low? Mmmmm

Floating reamer holders have been used for a long time. The concept is for the holder to float axially to allow the reamer pilot to follow the bore. They were used extensively on turret lathes for reaming and tapping decades ago. For our purpose of reaming an accurate chamber there have been many discussions in the past about the various makes and merits.

I'm quite fond of my JGS floating reamer holder. Although, I can obtain same results with my homemade pusher/handle. With the JGS, don't need to hold reamer and tie up a hand. Many ways of doing it...
