Flavio Fare BR Gen 2.0 Trigger

I've owned my FF trigger and I've been shooting it for about 5 years on my Panda 30BR. It has performed flawlessly with it set at .5 ounce. It comes with a set of mounting pins that you should use. I think the tolerance of the pins is necessary for the trigger to perform reliably. I shoot Jewells and Bix and Andy triggers and the FF outperforms them. I polish my Jewells and frankly once I do that they're as good as my Fare trigger. I'm not knocking the B&A but for that extra money Jewell is just as good after it's been polished. Use lighter fluid for cleaning and always use a bore guide to prevent any solvents from getting into the trigger.

I keep reading generalizations that the FF is better but no specifics. What category does it outperform the Bix in? What issues do you have with the Bix?

I’m assuming you don’t have a whisper if you’ve been using it for 5 years. My 2.0 model did not come with mounting pins. I noticed with increased sear engagement it has a very mushing feel before it breaks. Like some take up. The instructions say to back the screw out a half turn after the pin falls but I probably had to go less than a quarter turn to get that mushy feel out. Seems reliable cycling the bolt but it’s not going on a competition trigger until I gain some confidence in it.

I was just wondering how everyone cleans them since the side plate doesn’t come off easily like the Bix and Jewell... and it says if you do take it off the warranty is void.

I bought a FF Whisper last year. After setting it up it breaks very nice and will reliably go well under 1oz. My expierence with Bix is very limited. The one I was behind would fall off if you closed the bolt anything other than very gently, but that was not a trigger I set up so I'm hesitant to say one is better than the other. But I will say the FF Whisper is a very nice trigger.

My problem with Bix and Jewell is that they will not function reliably under an ounce. Also they've got that mushy feel that I can't seem to get out until I have set the sear engagement at a hair. Two Jewells that I have, finally started functioning to my liking after polishing the levers and side plates and fussing with them for hours. If I run 5 shots real fast with either the Jewells or the Bix I wind having to reset the trigger. And if I forget and pull the bolt out too far I've got a bullet stuck in the rifleing and powder all over. Just set them at 2oz and forget that. They are what they are. Usually that's the end of the match and relay and I don't need the aggravation. My Fare came with a recommendation that it would best be used on a firearm with a trigger hanger and yes it had two pins that came with it. Does your firearm have a hanger? Don't use compressed air to clean it. It can drive dust and particulates right in there where you'll never get it out. Contact them about cleaning your 2.0. Although I've never taken it apart, if I remember correctly my Fare has side plates that can be unscrewed and yes it's a generation 1. Me thinks that having that trigger sealed on the Gen 2 is a mistake but then what do I know I are not an engineer, lol ! Maybe it was a lawyer that redesigned the Gen 2,o_O!

Nice post. I did not know how to get the mush out
Going to work on mine tomorrow I was disappointed with the creep

I own a panda and a bat, so yes both have trigger hangers. I have two Bix triggers and I set the sear engagement per the instructions and both have a very clean break at about 1.2-1.3 ounces. I love them. I’ve read reports out west of malfunctions due to sand or dust getting in them. I take mine apart every 3-4 matches for cleaning and they’ve always been spotless.

I was intrigued by the Flavio and was told they’re more reliable. I’ve got it set now so that the take up isn’t really felt, at 1.2oz, but you can see it if you pinch the trigger with both fingers and slowly pull back. It’s not something I see with my Bix so I was just curious if that’s normal.

The whisper has 3 screws and I think 3 pins that would need driven out in order to remove the side plate. Instructions say that if you do you will void the warranty and I didn’t see any info on cleaning so I also wanted to know how others were doing it. I tried contacting Flavio but no response.

B&A is nowhere near as slick as the FF. It just works. And works. And works.

Are you referring to the trigger pull? Maybe I just don't have the nerve endings some of you guys have because I can't tell the difference in feel between my 1.2oz Bix and my Flavio set at 1.2oz.

The works, and works and works comment was my reasoning for trying it. Not that I've had any issues with the Bix... but I have spoke with people who have.

I'm finding this information interesting, since I just purchased a single shot Vudoo V-22S BR/F-Class 22RF action with the Flavio Fare trigger. I've just finished barreling this action, and for now, have it in a Shehane MBR Tracker stock that I robbed off a M700 in 6 Dasher. Had time to put about 50rds through it yesterday in shifting & gusty winds of 5-10mph - hardly conditions conducive to meaningful testing, but I just HAD to get it out and shoot just a bit. The wind was gusting enough to move my upper body as I sat at the portable bench I was using, but I still enjoyed shooting this new 22RF rig quite a bit. Hard to quantify the rifle's accuracy potential in these conditions, especially w/o flags, but I had very little time to spare for shooting anyway. A few things stood out - This was the 1st time I'd had a new Sightron SIII 45x45 BR scope outdoors, and it proved delightful, with very clear optics & reliable (as near as I could tell!) tracking. The parallax seemed to 'snap' into focus, negating the need to keep fiddling with it. The V-22S action is very & smooth to open the bolt - may wind up wishing I'd ordered the right bolt/left port version if I shoot more BR than F-Class. The Flavio Fare trigger seems excellent, though it'll take quite a bit more shooting in better conditions to make the most of it. I have no means to measure the break at such low values, but think I'll back-off the weight a bit to see what it's like at a lighter setting. VGW didn't supply any information on adjustments with the action, so I was glad to find such information online.
