Flash Hole

I purchased some Lake City brass formed to 20 Practical and about 10% has the Flash hole Drilled Off-Center, Has anyone had experience as to Real World difference in accuracy with this issue?

Thanx,
Jim

Jim,
Not sure how you define "Accuracy." I shoot Benchrest exclusively. And two summers ago, I did some extensive testiing (25 rds each make -using Sierra 168 gr HPBT @ 100 yds)) using once fired Lake City Brass, Lake City Match and Lake City National Match in my .308BR, where I normally use Lapua Brass. I was testing to satisfy my curiosity whether LC could keep up with Lapua. That because there's no question, that Lake City is "durable". But in the end, my scores were higher using Lapua than any of the Lake City. That being said, a fair number had the flashholes off center, much more with the regular Lake City than the other two LC brass models. Bottom line, I'd never use LC in competition, but they shoot otherwise and you;d have a hard time convincing me that an off center flashhole makse a difference. I'd be more worried about the LC being thicker on one side of the neck than the other. I Therefore turned all the brass to clean it up. And again there, the regular LC brass required more taken off to be concentric 360 degrees. Hope that helps.

My only thought in this situation would be of common sense and not any scientific proof nor any testing. Given all the work in preparing brass, and given a choice of centered or non-centered flash holes, and having a 10% non-centered group of brass, I'd be using that for foulers.

Well, load up a small test batch of cases with the off center flash holes and a small batch that are centered. See if there is any difference in the two and report back.
