flash-hole tool

anyone know who makes a flashhole deburring tool for the 6BR family. i used my normal debur tool in the 6BR case the other night and it reamed it out to a larger diameter. im not wanting to ream the flashholes, just debur them. i didnt see one in sinclair

Sinclair's has some very nice flash hole tools. You are looking for a .062" flash hole tool.

i think what you guys are talking about is the flash hole reamer. i just looked again on the sinclair website and they did not have a dedicated tool for the 6BR

Cole,
What the others are refering to and guiding you to, is a flash hole reaming tool. A large majority of benchresters use this tool or something similiar. The flash hole diameter of the Lapua 6BR brass is approx. .059x, the reamer makes it .0625.
If you want to just cleen up the hole use a #53 or 1.5mm drill bit in a pin vise----see today's article

keith--thank you, that is what i'm after. why doesnt anyone make a dedicated tool for the 6BR family? i have a sinclair flash hole debur tool for all my other cases--.223, .300wm, etc. but nothing for my 6BR

Cole,
May I ask yyou a question or more?
Are you trying to uniform the flash hole, or are you removing the little burr that is sometimes on the inside of the case at the flash hole?
If it is for the inside, I use a 3/16" 2 flute drill bit with a 6mm/.243 pilot to a set amount of chamfering of the inside of the flash hole. (Am I making any sense?)

feel free to call for better understanding and/or explaination

Cole,

Redding makes a flash hole deburring tool for the small diameter (0.060) flash holes.

Redding #06110 which comes with handle, 9/64 mandrel, deburring bit for 0.060 flash holes and a #06121 Stainless Pilot Stop for .22 cal.

You would also need the #06123 Stainless Pilot Stop for 6mm cal.

See page 23 of Redding's 2010 catalog.

Works great.

I have two from sinclair that only debur by entrance from the case mouth, you are still confused with their flash hole reamer which reams the flash hole out (only on the 220 Russian-6PPC Lapua) because after the first firing most die decapping pins will stick in the factory opening. It's almost a must do on most Lapua 220 Russian before the very first firing!
Deburring the flashole is an entirely different operation and intent.
Hope this helps.

yes, i am talking about the bur on the inside of the case at the opening of the flash hole--i didnt think to check out redding. thanks

checked out the sight at redding--i can use the .17-.20 model, just have to get a .243 pilot. it says that it is for the small flash hole variety--.060--this is what i need. i guess sinclair has this same one, but it just wasn't descriptive in the size of the flash hole. thanks to all that replied!!
