Flash-hole deburring

Hello...I'm new to the board, and new to reloading. I have a question about deburring flash holes. I have the Sinclair tool that indexes off the case mouth with pilots. How deep should I go with the cut? I'm not sure how far into the case to insert the tool; obviously, the small cutting end needs to protrude through the flash hole, but I don't want to cut too deep.

I wondered about this the first time i used a flash hole deburing tool. what i did was set a case on the bench and with a rod that fit in the case mouth i flatened any bur on the flash hole, then ijust cut it lightly and set it there then did the rest of the casses. hope this helps______treeman

Neck turning and flash hole de-burring are not the same thing.

When you de-burr the flash hole you are eliminating the possibility that the burr will at some time become an obstruction. There is no need to do any more than to remove it.

My bad...I added the subject to the post when I was thinking of something else. I then proceeded to ask another question entirely, flash hole deburring).
