FL sized brass +/-

When full length sizing what is an acceptable +- variance? After sizing 50 brass I might see a variance of .001-.006 in shoulder set back. How would you lower that number? annealing or maybe holding the brass in the die lonnger?

Anneal the shoulders and neck, use the same speed and pressure on each press stroke, hesitate a couple of seconds at the top of stroke. Also make sure your die is locked down.

Using cases that come out long with your current method, try holding in a couple of several seconds on a second pass, and a third if necessary. Experiment along these lines with dwell time and you very likely can find improved uniformity. You will ultimately need to anneal to maintain bullet seating consistency ( force to seat and length as well).

Which case lube are you using? This must be consistent to get consistent results. Lightly lube a case, resize and measure, do another case with more lubrication, resize, you'll get different results. I only use Imperial die wax, just a very small bit on my finger and spread first around the neck and shoulders, then down about 50% of the case, same amount each time.

If you are prepping your cases evenly and they have a few firings on them, then annealing will probably bring things back in line.
