Fix it Sticks Torque Limiters review

I received the Fix It Sticks kit a couple weeks ago and I wanted to do a small review with some pictures and video on the kit. Overall it's a very well thought out and well made kit which is small enough to fit in anyone's gear whether at a match, class or hunting situation.

The kit comes standard with the 65, 45, 25 and 15 inch pound torque limiters but if you needed others they do offer to custom set up a kit with the 4 needed or you can buy them separately to add to the kit. They offer other limiters like a 70, 80, 49, 55 and 20 inch pound as well depending on your rifle and needs. The 15-45 in/lbs limiters have a 20,000 cycle use and the 65 in/lb has a 5,000 cycle us where they retain their accuracy so you have a long life on these tools. The kit also comes with every torx, allen and screwdriver attachment you might need for a rifle. You can also add anything else you think you might need if for some reason the kit doesn't have it. You don't need to just use the kit with the torque limiters as it works perfectly as an over all tool kit as you can use them as a standard tightening or loosening tool as well.

I always carried a large torque wrench and all the attachments with me to matches but left them in the car as they were too heavy and large to pack in the gear. With this kit I will have a full torque kit and other tools that I used to carry along. It is a nice compact set up and I would highly recommend them.

For more info you can look at their site and contact them for more info. http://fixitsticks.com/

Here is a short video I did on the Fix it Sticks as well.

Glad to have helped. They have different kits and set ups and if you only need a couple limiters or different ones then the kit can be changed. They are a really nice set up.

I tried them against the torque wrench I have been using for years and it was basically the same. I read a test on them against others torque wrenches used in the firearms sport and the Fix It Sticks were very accurate. They only tested the 15 and 70 but after 10 test tries the average for the 15 was 14.5 and the 70 was 70.4. High and low for the 15 was 15/14 and for the 70 was 72/69.

I've got a Fat Wrench and the container is fairly small, is the fixitsticks that much smaller or more accurate, etc.

Never had a Fat Wrench set so not sure how they compare as far as size. As you can see in the video the Fix It Sticks set is smaller than my hand, which is a normal sized man's hand. Might be used to give you a size reference.

I have both. Been using the Fat Wrench about 5-6 years, but I've always doubted it's accuracy --- especially after I found I had failed to reset it to zero a couple of times. Sometimes, I really felt like low inch# screws were higher than dialed settings.

The fix it sticks are more compact, but way more expensive. Handy in a range bag, but lack the variable settings of the Fat Wrench, without buying a bunch more limiters. Both will do the job, but I think I like the Fat Wrench better, overall.

Yes the Fix It Sticks are more expensive and if you needed a wide bunch of variable settings then the Fat Wrench would be better but most people I know use no more than 4 values for the action screws, rings to base, and ring caps and the Fix It Sticks will do that no problem. And as you mentioned about doubting the accuracy of the Fat Wrench, that's not something I want to do. The price of the Fix It Sticks is not overly expensive for a precise tool. The kit shown above is about $160. And again you don't have to get the 65, 45, 25, 15 set and you can get a custom set with the torque values you need.

Not every tool is right for everyone but for someone looking for what the Fix It Sticks offer then they won't be disappointed with the set.

Rob, I don't dislike the Fix It Sticks. In fact, I do prefer them for torquing cap screws. I get a faint click, right before the limiter turns, and that is where I stop. I have the same kit as you and agree it covers most uses. Because of arthritis, the Fat Wrench gives me a more comfortable grip for the higher torque values. I would also like to see a molded holder for the bits, but no big deal. As I said, they will both do the job.

I understand Willie and like I said it's not for everyone but a good option to look at if in the market. I glued the bit holders together on the bottom so they hold in better. Works good.
