First time shooting New Anchutz......

I received my new 54.30 about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I finally had a chance to shoot it.
I had mounted a 24x Weaver on the rifle until i get a base to mount my S V Sightron
I fired 55 rds of Eley 10x that i had for about 20 years. After 30 rds the rifle came alive. Never in my wildest dreams did I think a 22lr could group like this. My last 2 , 5 shot groups were under .200 at
50 yards.
My plans are to shoot F class . I have the U7 stock on rifle and am going to make a few mods to it
to fit me and weight it down a little. and possibly piller bed the stock.
After shooting with the 24x scope , i'm wondering if i really need the 10-50 x?
I want to thank Ken Benyo for answering a lot of my questions on rimfire. He is a wealth of
knowledge and is willing to share it.
I'm a HM in highpower F open , I' sure this will take a while to achieve this with rimfire. But I will try.

I just picked up slightly used CMP 1903 for prone practice and I am amazed at the accuracy of it for being an entry level rifle. It shot 1/2” elevation at 100 yards off a rest with wolf match extra, sk flatnose match, and eley team. More than accurate enough for my purpose.

Ken, it's good to see that you are "alive & well" . . . and shooting well!:) Presuming that you are the KL I know, your BR accomplishments weren't exactly mediocre! I'd bet on you, "catching on".;)RG

Ken
I recommend trying the Sightron before you settle on the 24x. You have it already, so give it a go, especially at 100y.

Glad to hear that the Anschutz is coming along.....certain to be settled at 1000 rounds.

Best Regards

Congratulations on you new rifle Ken.
I recently got a Anschutz 54.30. as well and will using it for bench rest but not out to 200m . Our local ranges are 20m, 50m and 90m although there is a couple of 200m ranges in our State.

I have only had mine a week and have already had it to the range a couple of times to sight it in and try a couple of different rounds. So far the Lapua offerings are shooting exceptionally and the RWS and Eley are just OK by comparison.

I also have a Anschutz 2013 in a factory stock with no modifications other than a Tuner and although competing well with it over the last 3-4 years the 54.30 in the first week has me setting a PB for me shooting SK+. My 2013 also shoots the Lapua best especially Midas+ so I'm looking forward to seeing how well the 54.30 can perform once I get more familiar with the new Rifle.

I'm thinking I'll be able to give those custom built rifles a bit of grief a bit more regularly now.

Ken,

You should come shoot at Wilkes Barre at the end of the month (27-28 Jun)!!

The Wilkes Barre R & P Club has decided to continue the legacy of its annual spring smallbore

prone match, and proceed to hold this match. Due to the NRA's decision of not sanctioning matches for the

month of June, the match will be sanctioned by the ASSA as a regional match. I have listed some

of the conditions for this match below;

  • all policies for safe health conduct will be followed
  • there will be NO food available for both days
  • the match is limited to 25 max entries (every other f-point) unless spacing is waived by competitors
  • the clubhouse will be closed to all non-members
  • registration is available on Signup Genius; www.signupgenius.com/go/70a044baeaf2fa3f49-wilkes1
  • participation in ASSA Regional is optional for non-juniors (adults)
  • camping will be available on grounds
These are the prevailing conditions at the time of this email, however please understand that other conditions may be

necessary on the days of the match. If you are prepared to be flexible, we will strive to provide a safe

environment for an enjoyable match. The match bulletin will be available on the club's website; wbrp.net.
