First shots with a new 308 build.

I have had good results with varget and sierra 169gr Hpbt. I have had great results with burger 155.5 fullbore bullets and varget. I have noticed that it pays when loading varget to get an idea of the velocity you want to achieve then load by tenth of a grain over a window of half to 1 grain. I found with my palma rifle that the accuracy was only “ok” until I hit the load that it liked, then the groups shrank drastically. I went from shooting moa at 200 yards (my favored testing distance) to .25 moa with good repeatability. Br4 primers seem to help too but that may be due to the high fill rate.

Very nice rifle. Apparently N150 works well for that bullet weight. I like N140 for the 155's.
I agree 100% I am using 43gr of VV140 with both Berger 155gr VLD's and 155.5 Fullbore bullets and at 100yards they in the 1"s for 5 shots and at 600yards 1.2 for 10 shots. Setting them at .40 of the lands. Barrel is 1 in 12 twist. They would be even better with a better shooter.

Yes I use 44gr with the 155gr Scenar-L, seated very long.
