I just got back from my first rock chuck hunt in Northern Nevada. Unfortunately a large group of hunters came through last weekend and really thinned them out. We saw and shot 4. The first three were with my 17 Remington and ranged from 320-340 yards. The last one was 640 yards. I pulled out my 6x45 to buck the wind better. The chuck was laying down, facing me giving me a target not much bigger than a baseball. The wind was blowing pretty good up high in the cliffs but not down low where we were so guessing drift was tough. I took a few shots trying to dial in the wind and then finally got him.
We had a great time and learned what to and what not to bring next time. All in all a great time!
