First Rimfire

hogpatrol,

Hard to believe that you live in Delaware. Are you one of those high class upper staters? LOL I live in Lower Slower Delaware!

By friend here says hold on to your money. He says that you will not buy a winning gun. He says that winning guns have a waiting list before they are even for sale. It does kind of make sense.

So what is a guy to do? I know one thing that he said that makes sense for sure is to see what everyone else is shooting, saying, and buying. But then he is not the guy with the heavy duty rimfire itch! And the season is pretty much over.

Part of me wants to order a gun today, but I know that I should wait. And my gun fund will grow larger!

My father in law and I got a pair of Mossberg 500's. We are going to try them out tomorrow. And then I can always take the M&P 15 22 out for some temporary relief.

For now I guess that I will keep dreaming and looking at the classifieds each day. I check the above 2 EVERYDAY!

Thanks,
Bob

Bob, If you're shooting slugs in those 500s, try Lightfield 2 3/4s. Mossbergs & Lightfields were just made for each other. And, no I'm not one of those hi-class upstaters, just another transplanted hayseed from Pennsy. ;) If you want to check out some butt kickin' .22s, head on up to Atglen Sportsmen's Club when they have their rimfire matches. I talked to a world record holder up there once, think he had about 5 thousand, ouch, in his gun. Good Luck! Hog

OK, I have bought a gun. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

I bought a 1411 Anschutz Match 54. I think that it should satisfy my needs for quite a while, as well as be a competitive gun! I took it out for a test ride, and this thing is a TACK DRIVER! Even I could shoot it! LOL

Better start saving some money for the expenses to come!

Congratulations Bob, post a picture or two, would love to see her.
Wayne.

Thanks Wayne. Here are some photos. The target was one of the first using Wolf Match ammo. Not crazy about the bench rest, but then the guy that sold it to me had a Fulgham. Hard to use anything else after shooting off of that thing!

Bill,
You lucky dog you, she's a beauty and shoots good as well. Is it legal to use the one piece rest in rimfire bench rest competition?
Wayne.

Wayne,
Thanks, she is a beauty!
Most of the time it is not legal to use a one piece rest. I took mine down to a machine shop and he added a leg on the front rest. So I can take that rear section off and use a bag.
Still saving up for the Fulgham though!
Bob

Dog gone you anyway Bob,....you know your thread has rekindled my interests in rimfire and you have probably cost me about 2 or 3K 8)
Wayne.

Hog, I wish. I bought a brick of that at my gun shop up the road and he only has 2 more. Guess that they are mine!

Wayne, Break out the checkbook! You can't take it with you! LOL
