first groundhog of the year

I was out scouting for turkey season when I spotted this little guy at 80 yds I was going to let him live until I noticed how Mangy he was so I put him down. I should have taken the picture from the other side so you could see there is virtually no hair on the other side of the animal I wouldn't normally shoot them this time of the year I like to wait until I see the pups20170227_130201.jpg

I have always like the looks of those guns. How does it shoot? You sure got a early start!
rifle Shoots Great half MOA all day just like all other rifles takes a little tinkering to get it to be accurate.
for the record I normally don't start hunting them until after Memorial Day but the farm that asked me to take care of them wants them eradicated not controlled they're digging under the concrete in the Barns and destroying property

Keeping the Farmer's wishs a top priority and you'll never want for hunting grounds...

Im keeping an eye out myself. I shoot them no matter what time of year I seen them. I have not seen a decrease. Love shooting the little ones cuz they blow up nice!

3/20/17 Saw my first GH in city limits south of Cleveland Ohio. Cannot wait for good weather. Now have a 6BR and a 6BRX varmint rifle.

saw another one today...on a mound of snow. However in PA I saw a bunch on Rt 79 above Pittsburgh. there is hope.

Wonderful Would still be shooting groundhog if any lived here in Florida. Did see some around and just north of Atlanta. What a fun thing to shoot.

Temperature. I now can easily fish and use my boat 365 days a year. Same with riding motorcycle, shooting, sunning. riding bicycle and seeing a huge variety of things. It's flat out beautiful here in Florida. Motorcycle races often and incredible things to do outside all year-round.

Also enjoyed walleye fishing on Lake Erie. The substitute is grouper in Tampa Bay and just as good eating without the long drive and planning.

Plus, there are many Steeler fans here and sometimes I go to their games in Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville. Great hunting at my place in Georgia with 10 does and two bucks and multiple turkeys each year. Hunting here for deer can mean multiple bucks a year and also multiple turkey per season. Just killed two nice gobblers Monday afternoon.

Then I can go to Wyoming in the Summer and have fun with prairie dogs while it's hot here. In Pa. you have a hard time getting away in the winter because of the roads and overall misery all around. I'll just stay here, shoot at Manatee and remember the fun with groundhogs from the late 50's to late '90's.

This is the place to make new adventures. DO NOT come here. We are getting way too crowded with people like me. Then it's a good thing we are old and die off. If I see a space open for you, I will call from the grave. Until then - it's fun here.

Went to the driving range to hit some balls on 10 March, Marmota flaviventris were out enjoying 60-deg weather at 4700' elevation.

Driving home from our family farm today and spotted 4 ground hogs all in different feilds along ditch banks. Starting to get the fever can wait till the pups are out
Family says I've got a problem because I bought a used Garmin just so I could mark all my early
sightings and any active dens I stumble across so I can come back and look for them later. Also grate for marking wild asparagus patches.
