First ever match

Shot my first ever FTR match and dove into the deep in at 1000 yards @ Blakely GA. Had good time and did fairly well. Shot a 185-3x my first relay. Next relay shot a 180-1x and finished with a 173(wind really picked up and mirage was getting worse, but manageable) Looking forward to many more matches over time.

Savage FTR 308 win, Sightron SIII 10-50x FCH, Berger 168 Hybrid, Lapua brass, Varget, KVB7, Duplin bipod

Appreciate all the help individuals have given me over the past year. Too many to name

Way to go, Andrew.

You'll be getting rid of those 7s and 8s the more you shoot.

Without knowing your twist-rate, you might find that 175/185 weights hold the wind better at 1K than the 168s.

I hate I missed coming down and doing some shooting with you. I couldnt talk anyone into a carpool and wanted to shoot bambi. Thats fine shooting especially on your first one. Blakely is a very tough range to figure out. Hope to see you there in the spring. Matt

So you started out at 1000yds in FTR. Looks like you were ready for it on the score card. Keep up the good work guy.

Andrew, STARTING out at 1000yards in F-T/R and doing as well as you did, is quite an accomplishment. I have never shot F-T/R, as all I shoot is F-Open. In my not so humble opinion, F-T/R is considerably more difficult to master (if you can ever really master a shooting discipline) than F-Open. To begin at 1000 yards and do that well, calls for a celebratory toast! Raising my glass and saying "job well done"!!

It was very cool shooting 1000 yards. Figured mite as well jump in the deep end to start with and see if I could float. I was more than thrilled and enjoyed it. Working the pits too and seeing John Whidden and his gang destroy the x/10 ring was pretty fun to watch

Once again many thanks to numerous members who have helped me work on my load tuning and tips to help in reloading process.

Congrats! It really is addictive....
I used a sharpy and mark all my scores on my mirage band/shield with the date and a circle around each set. That way I have a reminder and track record in front of me to mark my improvememt..

Glad you had fun! Great scores for first time out!

That's about 20 points (per match) better than I did in my first match. Good shootin

Looking at the results they posted I lucked out and finished better than 3 other seasoned veteran shooters. I am very pleased with how the rifle and load shot

Very-Good job Andrew, I'll be seeing you there at the 1000 yarder. It is a hoot to work the pits with John, he like many other shooters is just a regular guy. I'm shooting the State here in Fl. on the 16&17 with a .223 I put together, will be my first shoot with it. We are shooting 300,500,600. On the 24th Blakley has a 600 yarder I'd like to make, how about you? Sorry for rambling, once again very-good shooting
