First effort at reloading .45 ACP

5 gr. of Unique will work also.

6 grains of Unique will get those 230 grain freedom seeds moving post haste.

Lee powder disks were a bit conservative, I believe.....

CFE pistol is good for 230 gr fmj but you need to load close to max or its dirty.

5.7 gr of 231 and 200 gr Lead SWC.

Shot thousands of rounds of this load over a 10 year stint of USPSA competition and practice in a Jim Clark built hardball gun. That pistol is still tight and capable of cleaning both the long and short line bullys eye targets..

I'm running 185gr bullets in my 45ACP.
Missouri LSWC 12BNH over Ramshot Silhouette.

Red Dot gave me some real powder puff loads.
Slow, but accurate. Just enough to work the action reliably.

I used to shoot in a lot of Bullseye matches back in the 80's. Unique and Bullseye (along with Unique) were the staples of the time for super-accurate 45's. Not familiar with the newer powders, though I have bought some and it is still sitting on the shelf, untried.

Super clean super accurate.

For my .45 ACP loads I load 230 grain FMJ, oal about 1.265.
Bullseye 5.2, which I have reduced to 5.0
W 231, I just loaded some @ 5.7. Max Winchester data once fired case and primer.

I have used Titegroup, Autocomp, WSF, Universal, Unique, and Red Dot.

Unique and Universal seem to be comparable load wise, so if you're getting shy on your Unique you might want to give Universal a try.

I went with 5.3 grains of Acc No. 2 on two batches of 50rds for Berry's plated 230g RNs and Mastercast 230g LRNs. At 5.3 both should be in around 825fps. That was the best powder match from my stock which I a very stingy with these days.

Thank you all for your courteous advice and assistance. Hopefully in a few weeks God willing our Country will be on the path for better days, and we can all get powder primers bullets of our choosing and I can more readily try your powder recommendations.
