First Day At The Range With My New ADL

Picked a new Rem 700ADL Varmint in 223Rem over the weekend from Cabelas.. Price was a very Reasonable $324 w/factory rebate. After mounting a Leupold VX3 Mildot 3.5-10 it was off to Shooters 0utdoor Range.. l only shot 20 rounds because of shoot-clean-shoot drill I use for a new barrel. Shooting, sight in, break in, went quite smoothly too.. The Remington trigger is a bit heavy to my liking.. No creep was detected, a pleasant surprise for me!! The feed ramp is Super Rough.. The gun wont feed empty cases. My test for magazines/feed ramps. The gun also seems to be sensitive to different weight bullets... After working my way out to 100yds l fired 3 groups of 2 shots each.. 45gr was low, then 3'' up was the 50gr group.. 55s still further. All 3 groups were around 1 1/2'' in size... 0verall l am pleased with the gun.. lt will go to the range several more times. Then on to the PD shoot. lf it does well l may enhance it. lf not, lt'll go down the road.. l'm too old to put up with a sorry shooting gun.. Like a bad woman or a meandog, more trouble than they are worth.

Work up to 25.0 gr Benchmark, LC brass, CCI 400 and a 55gr VMAX. I have the exact same rifle and it cuts holes with this load. It has to be one of my most accurate factory rifles.

Most of mine took a trip down the road before I was satisfied with them. But it was a trip down the road to the gunsmith for a new barrel.

If it has a 12" twist try the Nosler 55 BT's with either H4895, H335, Varget, or Benchmark. I'd be surprise if you don't obtain well under 1 moa.

If it has the new X Pro Trigger replace it with a Timmey. The X Pro is junk and you will never shoot to your full capability with a junk trigger.

Powder was AA2230C... Had what was left of an 8 pound jug. AA said use 2460 load data... Whatever the bullet weight was l used the middle load. Burning up old partial boxes of bullets. Gun shot the 50s best. l just ordered some 53gr HPs from Midway and 40gr Ballistic Tips from Nosler.. Both bullets were BLEMS of factory seconds... ''Good AND Cheap'' in the same pkg.. Bad part about ordering Blem Bullets- l never get enough

K22-Just checked the barrel twist specs 223-1 in 12. 22-250 twist is 1 in 14...

I bought a Rem 700 ADL Varmint model in 22-250 last year. The barrel touched the forearm almost the full length after putting a Kreiger 6BRX barrel on it. It probably touched the forearm with the factory barrel? The tried to adjust the trigger it was 6.5 lbs. I couldn't remove all of the sealing crap on the pull adj. screw. Bought a Jewell trigger set at about 2lbs. The manual doesn't say how much to torque the action screws. I had to remove plastic from the tupperware stock with a wood chisel to install the Jewell trigger. Used a wood chisel and a small wood plane to remove plastic from the forearm. With limited workup it shoots about .400" groups.
