First 500 yd group with my new 6 X 47 Shehane

I finally got a chance to shoot my custom 6 X 47 Shehane Sunday. I was very pleased to measure .991. I still need to adjust my bullet seating depth as this was just touching the riflings with a 105 gr. VLD Berger which is considered "no mans land"
This was at 500 yds.

O K Jim,
I wish I could do the picture thing man but I'm still learning about this computer stuff. But, I will share what I know
about my mess. The 6 X 47 Shehane is a necked down 6.5 X 47 Lapua
with the shoulders blown forward. I don't know how much forward because I bought this rifle from Bill Shehane already built. His number is 704 824-7511 and his web-site is ScopeUsOut.com. He is very big all over the country and even out of the country with lone-range very accurate rifles, stocks, Nightforce scopes and just about anything to do with long-range accuracy. He has won many matches around the country including shooter of the year at least one time. Now for the specs. that I do know. My rifle is built on a Jim Borden BR action, 30 " Krieger fluted barrel with a .270 neck dia. and is mounted in one of Bill's African Obechee Laminated stocks,bolt-on). Jewell 1 1/2 oz. trigger. I have a 12-42 NXS Nightforce with the DD reticle mounted on Davis bases and Kelbly's tall 4 screw rings. It weighs 17.5 lbs. My load thus far and I'm still developing it as of now. Lapua necked down cases to 6mm and turned to .268 loaded rd. 450 CCI Sm. Ri. primer, 41.0 gr. of V N560, 105 gr. Berger VLD Match bullet. Chrono'd at 3060 fps at 85 degrees. SD's and ES's not that great yet but I'm working on that. Who cares as long as it shoots litle tiny groups? Sounds like I might be a BR shooter but I am far from it. I just always loved shooting and wanted a very accurate rifle in which I have accomplished with the help of Bill. Don't misunderstand, I am an avid handloader and have been for well over 12 yrs. but only for factory type rifles. Mostly Rem heavy barrel Sendero type rifles and I do have a 6 PPC Ruger Mark II Target rifle, all factory). Our little shooting groups GAME is filling 20 0z. and smaller pop bottles with water and vaporizing them at 500 and 600 yd.s Sometimes one of us will get lucky I suppose and shoot the cap off when the wind is in out favor. We don't know a thing about reading wind. We just shoot and keep holding off until we find out how much wind to allow for
I hope I have not bored you with this essay. But at least now you know all about my shooting game. What is yours? Thanks, Bill
